I started this blog a little less than five months ago. To my own surprise, a few people that have stumbled across the Funky Brown Chick in one way or another like it enough to link to it on their own personal blogs. I think that’s pretty special. So special that I’ve decided to take a moment to recognize each of them (in no particular order) …
I love you guys.
Sublimely Mundane, you inspired this post. I love your blog and I believe that you’re probably a better man than you believe that you are; The Fake Doctor, I absolutely adore you. Every time I log on to your site and discover a brand new post, I feel as if it’s Christhanukwanza and I’ve been given a nice little present! You’re a brilliant writer.
Siddity In The City, from reading your blog, I gather that we’re probably cyber twins. We share a lot of the same likes, live in the same city and have a common obsession for cute shoes and cute boys. Mama Christy, I am currently reading Memoirs of a Geisha because you recommended it; Rhyme Of The Day and Mint Chutney, you both rock for a million different reasons and especially because you live in Chicago. 1,000,001 reasons why I hate advertising, sending you much love from New York to Detroit; and Mitch, sweetheart, the girls in Vancouver just haven’t got a clue!
Tonito Bandito, you are my one and only cyber love, *mwah*; Guri, I’m glad that you switched languages because now I can actually read your blog. My ability to speak Norwegian is a little rusty. And, by “rusty” I mean nonexistent; LHC, you’re a reader and readers are wonderful people; All This and Nothing, you have such a sweet picture on your site; Monkeymagic, keep combating bystander apathy one incident at a time; and all of the women at Grow Some Testicles, you abso-fucking-lutely rock.
Chai and Sympathy, you’re my favorite vegan in the whole world; zellenblog :: sexy german blog, vielen dank! (Ik spreek helemaal geen Duits maar ik spreek wel Nederlands … dus is het een beetje maakelijker voor mij om jouw blog te lezen) The Write Grrl, I’m truly honored; The Movie Review Diary, I didn’t think it was possible for anyone to love movies more than I do. I’d challenge you to a “Movie-off” but I think I’d lose; Rogue Sun 2.0, thanks for the Halloween present, I thought that was really special; My Little Life, I think you’re my only reader in Seattle. How on earth did you find me?!; and Berry, the note from your landlord / management company made me laugh out loud! … I forgot to post a comment on your site about that.
erigby, your site won’t load on my dinosaur of a laptop.
If you haven’t already, please visit each of the sites listed above. They’re each uniquely wonderful. And, by the way, this list of links was brought to you courtesy of the omnipotent Technorati. If you link to my site and I didn’t thank you properly above, let me know … and please accept my millions and millions of apologies.

You find the most unusual – and hilarious – photos for your posts!
You are supremely welcome for the link and I really appreciate you having mentioned me in a few posts. I, too, am honored.
I’m so glad that you are reading “Memoirs” and hope you love it. I just re-read it and was again amazed at how much I enjoyed it and how stinking hard it was to put down, even when I have so much going on right now.
Thanks for your GREAT blog!
Mwah! You are my one and only funky brown chick. When I come back to the NYC for a visit, we will definitely have to have some cocktails. Consider it a date!
Hey Stolie,
Thanks for the shout-out, now, if only the women in Vancouver did have a clue… Alas, so it goes. But prospects are appearing, so we’ll see how all of that goes…
That photo is somewhat disturbing.
Thanks for the shout out, stolie–we love you too!!
Actually, I’m from Chicago, but I’m rarely there. My job keeps me away from home 5 days/week. Currently, I’m serving a three-month sentence (the customer is pretty bad) in Seattle.
The location on my blog changes depending on what city I’m in.
:bows before Stolie: I’m not worthy! I’m not worthy! Heh, heh. Wayne’s World gags are spent, man. But it was the best way to sum up how I feel.
Thank you, Stolie. That is certainly one of the nicest things anyone has ever written about me. It’s especially meaningful coming from a blogger–and person–I hold in high regard.
And it seems like I’ve been included among some very good company. :-)
Cheers, luv!
P.S. :holds up finger tentatively:
Uh, excuse me for the breach in Netocol, but I just had to add: I just browsed Siddity’s blog, and Siddity, you’re doing NaNo (National Novel Writing Month), too?? Man, it’s a small cyber-world. :-D
Good luck!

Thanks, Stolie, and that is a fantastic photo!
MamaChristy: It’s a great book. I’m about 1/2 through. She’s just met the Baron and everyone has left the party. He comes to her in a bathrobe and tells her that he’s got a gift for her …
Tonito Bandito: Of course! Give me a heads up so that I can keep the day open on my calendar and we’re on. YES!!!! I finally scored a date with Tonito!!!!!
Mitch: What’s this, “but prospects are appearing, stuff??? Do tell …
Kristin: Glad to do it; you guys are great!
Carlos: I’ve never been to Seattle. How’s it going out there?
Andy: You are too funny! I used to watch Wayne’s World on on SNL and then I saw the movie when it came out.
Andy: I can’t remember who, but I know Sid and at least a couple of my other readers are doing it as well. And, it IS a small cyber world. It’s like 6 degrees of separation. Everyone knows someone who knows someone who writes or reads this or that blog.
JohnJEnright: I love that photo, too!
You are quite welcome, Stolie. Keep up the good work and come back any time.
Stolie Sweetie!
Thanks for the plug! Love your blog too!
P.S. Just where did you get that photo of my husband’s back?!! ;P
Thanks for the shout Stolie…love your blog girl. Write on!
It is a damn small universe — happy NANOWRIMO! 6,000 words and flailing but determined to finish this year…
Paul McElligott: Thanks! :)
Hanuman: One of my ex-boyfriends, Le Canadian, didn’t have any hair on his back but he had wads of it on his chest.
EddieGrrl: I know. Everyone is participating in NANOWRIMO. I’d never heard of it before this year. Is this an annual thing?
Awwww, thanks! We are cyber twins, I think. And you know we all love your blog, too! It’s been great fun reading you over the last few months, and I hope you keep on posting so we can keep reading!
Andy–write on, brothersisterfriend! God help us all, good luck to you, too!
Stolie–what’s funny about that whole six degrees thing is Carlos is the Mr. C. I’m always referring to. Great guy. Met him and a few other bloggers the first time I visited Chicago. We’re hitting San Fran later this month with my amiga M. So you see, one can find some great folks on the Internets; even long-distance travel-and-drink buddies, lol.
It *IS* a small world!!
“So you see, one can find some great folks on the Internet; even long-distance travel-and-drink buddies, lol.”
I have to admit that I’m kind of nervous about meeting other bloggers. It hasn’t happened yet, but when/if it does, I’ll probably write a post about it. :)
eddiegrrl: Keep doing your thing. If you’re at 6K, 50K is still attainable. Just keep writing, and by Nov. 30, I know you’ll be there.
sid: You write on and rock on, too! :-) *thumbs up*
Stolie: [I have to admit that I'm kind of nervous about meeting other bloggers. It hasn't happened yet, but when/if it does, I'll probably write a post about it. :)]
I’ve met a few folks off the Internets before. You spend enough time online, and you get a pretty good sense about people (e.g. who’s an axe murderer and who’s not). It’s not all that scary and can be an interesting experience.
Oh, by the waaay…my brother lives up your way, so if I ever get off my ass and visit him…what do you say to you, me, a bite to eat, drinking ourselves into oblivion…? It’s on like Donkey Kong(?)! ;-)
“what do you say to you, me, a bite to eat, drinking ourselves into oblivion…?”
I say: “Sorry, no can do.” The only blogger that I’ve agreed to meet is my beloved Tonito.
Stolie, is that because I am “safe” being gay and all! LOL
Nope. It’s not that. Check your email, lover boy … :)
