Tada! I *DID* it. Approximately five months (and exactly 99 posts) ago, the funkybrownchick.blogspot.com began. Some day, I’ll tell you the full story, rationale, raison d’être for starting this blog; but, that day isn’t today. For now, suffice it to say that it’s not a coincidence that I started the blog when I did. But, whatever, all that stuff is about me and today is supposed to be about you. Yes, you.
I hereby declare today “No More Lurking” day at the Funky Brown Chick headquarters. What does that mean? Well, if you read my blog … and I know that you do because the sitemeter tells me so … here’s what I want you to do: Post a comment. Simply tell me how you originally discovered this site and/or the city from which you’re visiting. Just say hi. Give me a holla’ from Rolla! Or, wish me a Happy 100th Blogbirthday. Quite a few of you already regularly post comments, advice, words of encouragement and funny stories on a regular basis. I genuinely appreciate it from the bottom of my heart; it’s even as if I’ve come to know a few of you a little bit. Most of you, however, are lurkers. You know who you are. You come to the blog from time to time but you rarely, if ever, leave a comment. Why so shy?
But, really, it doesn’t matter if you’re a regular, lurker, first-timer or someone who stumbled here accidentally… Post a comment. Just this once. Pretty pllleeease? You can even post anonymously if you’d like. I’m really curious to know how each of my readers found my blog. And, it would be interesting to know just how many lurkers there are out there. So, pick up your champagne glasses folks, because I’m popping open the bubbly stuff! You ready? Okay. We’re going to celebrate the 100th post together … Come on. What are you waiting for? Say hi …

You found us–which is how we found you. And we’re glad you did!
Happy blogbirthday :D
I think I found you through the fake doctor’s blog, and he was linked at blogger’s front page.
Gosh, I don’t even remember, in all honesty. I think I discovered this blog via another blog’s list o’ links. Don’t remember which one it was. I know I don’t read theirs anymore. Glad I found yours, of course!
happy blogday!! it’s fun watching everyone come out of the woodwork isn’t it?
i think you found me first, didn’t you? whatever. you make me laugh and that’s why i keep coming back.
Hi Stolie. Through the Fake Doctor’s blog. Like you, I adore him and am kinda bummed that he hasn’t posted in a while. Anyway, read some of your posts and found them interesting and well-written. (I love interesting and well-written). Happy Blog-Day!
PS: What do you mean by coming out? Are you outing yourself? Telling us your real name?
Hi from Perth, Australia. (First things last)
Kristin: And, I’m glad that I found you ladies as well.
Guri: Yay!!! My favorite Norwegian reader!! :) I’m extremely excited that your blog is in English now. Not excited in that horrible “everybody-must-speak-my-language” kind of way, excited in that selfish “I-want-to-read-your-blog-and-it’s-a-pity-I-don’t-speak-Norwegian” kind of way.
Andy: “I know I don’t read theirs anymore.” Oh, oh, oh now … but isn’t that a bit like leaving one’s wife for one’s mistress? :)
surly girl: I know. I’m really curious to see who’s out there …
Jenn: The fake doctor is great isn’t he? I figure the long delays in between posts are probably because he’s busy doing the things that fake doctors do. I get that, but what I don’t get is this: “why is this man still single?!?!” He’s obviously smart, witty and refreshingly hilarious. I wonder if I have any loveable, beautiful, Jewish women friends and/or readers that I can send his way. Unfortunately, the two friends that immediately come to mind are engaged. :( … And, by the way, I’ll have you know that when I first started university, a friend: went to Perth, fell in love with one of them “charmin’ Aussie boys” that you guys breed en masse down there and dragged him (kicking and screaming) back to the US with her. Many years later, they were still very very very happily married. I haven’t seen them in ages, but I have no reason to believe that aren’t aren’t still very happy.
I don’t think he is single from lack of opportunity, really. I think he’s just very very picky. Have you seen the number of women who have propositioned him in the comments section? This guy could be dating a different girl every day of the week if he wanted to. In fact, every day of the month.
It helps, being a Chandler lookalike.
Yay Aussies! Maybe you should come here and fall in love with a local charmer. Or simply for the lovely beaches. Western Australia is soooooo nice. And uncrowded. And uncomplicated.
you once posted on an old acquaintance’s blog – morecowbell – but we’re not really so much in contact anymore. eek.
and happy blogbirthday to you, stolie!
_
What a wonderful day to celebrate! Stolie’s 100th post just happens to fall on the day we remember our fallen soldiers.
Actually, Stolie I think you found me first, commenting on some of my eye candy and that’s how I found you.
Anyway, happy day to one of my most favorite blogbuddies.
Shouting out from the NW corner of Georgia!
‘Allo.
‘appy ‘undred
And a toast to many, MANY more posts from the lovely and articulate Stolie!
Let’s see… I found you through the “Next Blog” button at the top of the Blogger blogs. I’ll have you know that I add and delete blogs from my bloglines all the time. Every time I find one I think I might like, I add it and sadly most get deleted after a few weeks. You, however, are one of my favorite bloggers and will stay in my bloglines account for as long as you post.
I’m from a little burb of San Antonio, Texas – Home of the Alamo.
happy blogday!
Happy Blogbirthday!
I think that I discovered you when you left a comment on my site! (Who could forget that picture!)
Anyway, glad that we made the connection! ;)
I wasn’t gonna post because I’m all lazy and what-not (hell, I’ll probably see you tonight!), but it’s so much nicer on the web. Happy bloggy-blog-birthday!
Haha! Here’s your holla’ from Rolla. Happy 100th post.
-From a faithful lurker
By the way, originally stumbled onto this site when I was “Next Blog”-ing away one day and loved the way you write.
Jenn: Yeah, Australia has been high on my “To-See” travel list for quite a while now. As soon as I save up enough cash, vacation time and/or airmiles, I’m there! And, indeed, the fake doctor must be pretty picky. He seems to be quite a catch and the women who read his blog throw him all they’ve got.
miss anon: I actually remember that blog. (I don’t think that I read it anymore either.) And, thanks for the happyblogday wishes, by the way!! :)
Tonito Bandito: I think your eye candy is one of the few things that carry me through my dry spell! :)
Raymond: TANKS!!! :)
MamaChristy: That’s sooooo interesting about the “next” blog thing. I wonder who’s blog is sitting next to mine … I’m going to try that out now.
Berry: THANKS!!! :)
Hanuman: You post very very lovely photos!! :) Delicious.
The One and Only Bro: YAY. :) Bro-Bro! You’re probably mentioned in 85% of these posts so it’s about time that you put up a comment or two.
Salian: This is great!!!! I always wondered who was lurking behind the curtain way over there in Rolla. Welcome! :)
So, that’s what I have to do to get the lurkers to come out from their corners? Call you each out by name? Let’s try this again … hmmm … Who’s the Baltimore gal/guy? How about that lurker from Calgary? And, exactly who is the person lurking from Singapore?
Sheesh! This is like pulling teeth. Why is everyone so shy??? I won’t bite … Unless, of course, you want me to. ;)
Happy Blogbirthday. You commented on something on my blog, so I visited yours, and just kept coming back.
i’m pretty sure i came across your blog using the “next blog” button too. there are some pretty boring and crappy blogs out there and yours just stood out because it was cute and funny – plus i thought your picture was kinda funny.
Yea Stolie!
Found your blog a few months ago and have become addicted.
Cheers
JohnJEnright: Thanks and I’m glad that you keep coming back.
little a: A ha! Yet another lurker hash been so brave come forward. The next time I read each of my list of favority blogs, I’m going to check out the “next” blog for each of them. Glad you like the picture!! :) And thanks, again, for coming out of hiding.
Mint Chutney: That means you found me really shortly after I started. Thanks for coming back.
Happy Blogbirthday!
I can’t for the life of me remember how I stumbled here…but I’m glad I did!
Happy BlogB’day from Belfast, Northern Ireland!! I came here from Mitch’s blog but I had seen your funkybrownchicken on comments elsewhere and always meant to come here. Keep bloggin’!
missbhavens: And, I’m glad that you did too!
Nics: So, you found me through Mitch’s site? It really *is* like that whole six degrees of separation.
Happy Belated Blogbirthday!!! :)
congrats, and thanks for all the comments on my previous posts…been a bit busy lately, haven’t had much free time, but i thought i’d say congrats now that OB/Gyn is over.
Hi!
*waves*
But you knew I was all up in your blog grill :D
happy blogbirthday Stolie–your blog is like my little replacement for sex and the city… :)
This feels like some weird party where no one really knows each other and the only thing linking us to one another is you, stolie. Way to go, i guess :D
First, it’s been a crazy busy weekend; I’ll put up a new post tonight or tomorrow morning. (Besides, it’s my 100th blogbirthday. I’m rewarding myself with a tiny break.) Next …
Mags: Thank you, little one! :) By the way, that Irish guy (yes, folks, believe it or not, I met ANOTHER Irish guy) was so weird that I might actually post about him tomorrow. You’re hilarious: “Stabbed?!?! Who is this guy? The Irish 50 Cent?”
The Fake Doctor: Thanks for the congratulations and for posting a comment. I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again. I *LOVE* your blog.
Sid: And, you know I’m equally all up in yours! :)
The Doctor Wanna-B: “your blog is like my little replacement for sex and the city… :)” Wow! Thanks for the compliment. Although … talk about not worthy; my life pales in comparison to the fab four.
Salian: The funny thing is this: I had that exact same thought the other day …
When I first heard about blogger get togethers / parties / outings, whatever they are called, I was little freaked out …
“Ewww! Wouldn’t that be a bit like the Trekkie get togethers that I’ve seen on television? What? Would people like show up dressed as their avatars?!?!? I. AM. NOT. dressing up like a fucking chicken for anyone!!!”
But, now that I’ve been doing this for a couple of months, I kind of get it. It’s more about the shared experience, not simply the shared interest in writing and/or reading blogs.
So, the next time I hear about one of such outings in New York … bring out that chicken suit!!!
Hi, Labs don’t lurk but maybe they do skulk a bit. Happy 100th.
There’s a nice GRE word if I ever heard one; thanks for skulking. :)
Ok admit I’ve been a lurker for a while. Kinda new to this so wasnt sure about posting comments yet but since you asked and its rude to refuse…here goes!
I found your blog by surfing Eli’s blog. I found his blog by being bored and by procastinating doing an essay on Huntington’s Disease. Dont ask. Needless to say blog-surfing is a great way to waste time and procastinate!
Anyway with regard to comments on your blog itself, cant say I’ve read ALL your posts yet but it’s pretty cool. One of my pet peeves is boring blogs where people simply write an essay on their boring mundane life going into each boring mundane detail such as what they ate for dinner what their bf/gf said when they called them and what colour knickers they’re wearing at the moment etc etc! Hence a bit of wit and humour and general reflections on life are greatly appreciated!
Keep it up!
Darwin
I just found you yesterday. You’re hilarious. I don’t keep my personal blog much up but I do keep a livejournal of the same name. Oh, I’m Kelly, by the way. :)
Darwin & Kelly: Wow! Thank you, both, for reading my blog and for posting comments. Seeeee … it wasn’t that hard was it? :)
Happy BloggerBirthday Wishes…
Sorry for the late BloggerBirthDay wishes – things have been nuts.
To be honest, I can’t remember how I found the site, but it probably was associated with finding a random link on some random blog… and saw the similar tag line revolving around rants and raves, and figured, hey, this might be interesting…
And guess what, IT WAS!
No prob. Better late than never; I appreciate it. :)
I found your through Andy’s blog. :) Happy blogbday!
Happy blogaversary! I guess I’ve officially been delurked. Greetings from the ‘sip. Love the blog – keep ‘em coming.
Jamie: WELCOME!!! :)
AB: Thanks! Hey … when I was a little girl, I lived in the ‘sip. And, it seems that everyone in Chicago has relatives there.
I found you through blogger.com as a blog of note and I truly enjoy the reading.
I was a blog of note??? I always assumed that I swore to fucking much to ever make that list. ;-)
Better late than never.
I found you through Sid. I think you made a comment there that I thought was interesting.
It’s never too late. :)
By the way, I just noticed that your blogger profile is hidden. Hmmmm … why so secretive? :)
Happy blogging birthday, Stolie. I have posted once before, an anonymous post that reminded you a man diet is not giving up hope, it’s a hope hiatus.
You know I love you. See you very soon!
I love you, too Pegs!!!!! :)
