New Year’s Eve Kisses in NYC

Recap. So, several people decide to come to New York for New Year’s Eve. Lana, Jerome, Anna-Scarlet, and Mags fly in from Philadelphia, DC, Texas, and Boston. To start the evening, Jerome, Anna-Scarlet and I tussle our way through the sheer madness that is Times Square. Later, our party of 3 turns into 8 when we meet Stan & Bituin, Jimmy, Mags and Bro for dinner. Delicious food. Gorgeous waiter; on my way out the door, he slips his arms around my waist and gives me my first (and a very pleasurable) New Year’s Eve kiss of the evening. But, it’s only 8pm and the night is young and the Karaoke stage in the bar around the corner calls out our names.

We enter. A couple of bottles of wine later, we’re still there and we croon along, off-key, with several tunes ranging from Robbie Williams to Aretha Franklin. It’s almost midnight so we head to a Karaoke-free bar. Esther, Pinki and some random unknown guy join us. Our 8 swells slightly to 11. We up our drink total to include a couple Margarita rounds. At the stroke of midnight, we finish a couple bottles of champagne and watch the ball drop on the screen of the very crowded bar. Kisses flow. I start with Jimmy. Next, my lips attach to a boy who says his name is Anthony. (Or, is it Adam?) My friends and I leave the bar sans Adam (Anthony?). We meet Bruce at his bar and I kiss almost every single male present. I even share a three-way kiss with two absolutely beautiful creatures. At some point, everything becomes a blur. Sometime between 6:00 – 7:00am, we all go our separate ways and retire for the evening / morning.

The next day, roughly 20 of us meet up for day-after brunch & mimosas. We round out the weekend by squeezing in a little NYC-tourist stuff such as tours of Harlem and the United Nations. We also see The Color Purple on Broadway. Later, in Chinatown, we have a brief run in with the Chinese Mafia but that’s such a good story that I think I’ll save it for a full post in its own right.

This past weekend was one of the best New Year’s that I’ve ever had. Everyone should spend a New Year’s Eve in New York at least once in their lifetime. Everyone. Really, it was amazing. And, by the way, I really love the beautiful New Year’s e-card that one of my readers sent to me. It reads, “No matter with whom, where, or how, I hope this is the beginning of a wonderful new year! May this year and every year after this bring lots of joy and happiness in your life.” How sweet!!! I love my readers and I hope that you all had great NYE experiences, too. Does anyone have any exciting New Year’s resolutions?

I have got to do a New Year’s Eve in NYC. I am going to check my airline miles and my hotel points.

As for resolutions, I don’t believe in them. I was wanting to start back to the gym, but I hate to join right now. When you join this time of year people take bets on how long you will last, I know, I used to be one of them.

I’m really happy that you had a blast for NY. The way I figure when you’re with people you really like, with friends you can really be yourself with, it doesnt really matter where you spent NYE, be it NYC times sq or a deserted island or whatever…

Incidentally my dream NYE would be to see the Northern Lights…

As to resolutions, nope, I think they’re stupid. Its like setting yourself up for failure. If I make up my mind to achieve a goal (like finish my coursework on time or try and be less lazy or whatever) I just go ahead and do it, why wait for the New Year to start doing it? If something needs changing that badly in your life, just get off your arse and change it rather than wait for the NY to announce to the world and make a big deal of it and change it…Just my 2 cents worth anyway!

Sounds like you had a blast, stolie. I think I need to come visit and see what the deal is with your friend, Stan, ha ha ha! Just kiddin’.

Thanks for sharing your New Year’s Eve with us. I’m so glad you had a good time and that your lips weren’t lonely at midnight!

AWE: If you ever decide to do NYE in New York, be sure to book early to get the best rates. And, if you want to see Times Square, the best way to see it is from a window of one of the swank hotels. That way, you’ll stay warm, avoid the crowds and see the confetti fall from the window. Wow, see how easy that was, folks? That advice just rolled off of my tongue, right drop the tips of my fingers at onto the keyboard as if I’ve actually lived here for more than 8 months. :) … And, ewwww, I *HATE* going to the gym in January. All of the machines are taken up by the New Year’s Resoluters. I’m a bet-placer, too. Yeah, that guy will be out of here by February 1st at the latest. I saw him eating a donut on the way into the gym!

Darwin: You know, you’re sooo right. It’s not just the location, it’s the friends that you have around you … Hmmm, you’re not a fan of the resolutions, huh? I am, but I just haven’t gotten around to making mine yet. When I do, I’ll post them, of course.

Tonito Bandito: Yeah, Stan put on QUITE a show for everyone. From what I remember, it was a sight to behold.

MamaChristy: Nope; no lonely lips on this face that night! :) … But, they are a bit lonely the other 364 days of the year. ;)

Ah, but I think the memory loss might have started a bit early, as we did NOT sing to Aretha, my kissy bandit friend!

Sounds like you had a better night than I… and much more fun… I couldn’t even bring myself to get drunk @ a friend’s house party, at which there were 3 women, all taken, and 6 of my close friends. So, I can’t say it was exciting – nice yet, but not exciting…

Next year, definately going to do something much more exciting next year…

However, Happy New Year, and I’ve already posted my resolutions for the New Year – and you know, its going to be a good 2006.

The One and Only Bro: Okay, I thought you were pulling my leg for a second (Are you sure we didn’t sing Aretha?!). But, then I realized that I mixed up my nights. We didn’t sing Aretha on Saturday, but the drag queen that Mags, Jerome, Anna-Scarlet and I saw on *Sunday* sang it. R-E-S-P-E-C-T! :)

Mitch: Tell your friends to spend NYE in New York next year! :) … GOOD resolutions, by the way. I’ll get around to posting mine some day. Happy 2006!!!

Sounds like you had an awesome NYE. I was workin’, so mine kinda sucked this year, but I’ve had some good ones–Paris ’98 was great, and even last year in Kalamazoo was pretty dang fun, considering it was kalamazoo. It’s all about who you’re with!

My only resolution is to enjoy my life more. That’s it. Whatever I need to do to get there…

And as for being disgruntled about all the NYResolutioners at the gym, I felt the same way the last few days at Crunch, but then I realized that’s probably exactly what the regulars and staff think of me–signing up days before the end of the year, being the chubbinator I am, they would have no way of knowing I used to be much larger, or that I was in my last gym so much I was on a first name basis with the entire staff, GM, trainers and all, lol. So take it easy on the NYRers, don’t toss ‘em too many dirty looks. They might be really, really hot in a few months, lol!

Oooooh! Paris and Kalamazoo??? Both sound GREAT. And, I like your New Year’s Resolution. I often fall in the trap of thinking about “tomorrow” so much that I sometimes forget to enjoy and live in the “now.”

And, you make EXCELLENT comments about the NYResolutioners at the gym. I hadn’t really thought of it that way; point taken. :)

Elaborate? Okay: I *LOVE* three-way kisses! :)

Yeah, I thought the waiter was really hot!! … Stan thought he was hot, too, but he’d never admit that …
