Recap. So, several people decide to come to New York for New Year’s Eve. Lana, Jerome, Anna-Scarlet, and Mags fly in from Philadelphia, DC, Texas, and Boston. To start the evening, Jerome, Anna-Scarlet and I tussle our way through the sheer madness that is Times Square. Later, our party of 3 turns into 8 when we meet Stan & Bituin, Jimmy, Mags and Bro for dinner. Delicious food. Gorgeous waiter; on my way out the door, he slips his arms around my waist and gives me my first (and a very pleasurable) New Year’s Eve kiss of the evening. But, it’s only 8pm and the night is young and the Karaoke stage in the bar around the corner calls out our names.
We enter. A couple of bottles of wine later, we’re still there and we croon along, off-key, with several tunes ranging from Robbie Williams to Aretha Franklin. It’s almost midnight so we head to a Karaoke-free bar. Esther, Pinki and some random unknown guy join us. Our 8 swells slightly to 11. We up our drink total to include a couple Margarita rounds. At the stroke of midnight, we finish a couple bottles of champagne and watch the ball drop on the screen of the very crowded bar. Kisses flow. I start with Jimmy. Next, my lips attach to a boy who says his name is Anthony. (Or, is it Adam?) My friends and I leave the bar sans Adam (Anthony?). We meet Bruce at his bar and I kiss almost every single male present. I even share a three-way kiss with two absolutely beautiful creatures. At some point, everything becomes a blur. Sometime between 6:00 – 7:00am, we all go our separate ways and retire for the evening / morning.
The next day, roughly 20 of us meet up for day-after brunch & mimosas. We round out the weekend by squeezing in a little NYC-tourist stuff such as tours of Harlem and the United Nations. We also see The Color Purple on Broadway. Later, in Chinatown, we have a brief run in with the Chinese Mafia but that’s such a good story that I think I’ll save it for a full post in its own right.
This past weekend was one of the best New Year’s that I’ve ever had. Everyone should spend a New Year’s Eve in New York at least once in their lifetime. Everyone. Really, it was amazing. And, by the way, I really love the beautiful New Year’s e-card that one of my readers sent to me. It reads, “No matter with whom, where, or how, I hope this is the beginning of a wonderful new year! May this year and every year after this bring lots of joy and happiness in your life.” How sweet!!! I love my readers and I hope that you all had great NYE experiences, too. Does anyone have any exciting New Year’s resolutions?
