Baby’s First Audio Post

April 11th, 2006 Posted in Audiopost

Let the high-pitched tone of my voice soothe you. Ponder why I choose to speak directions to myself into the phone. “Press pound.” Hear panic first hand as my speech quickens when I realize that I have no fucking clue what I’m doing. (Actually, to be honest … I can’t blame the fast talking on my panic; I generally tend to talk reallyreally fast under normal situations, too. But, no, I’m not on drugs—recreational or otherwise.) For the record, kiddies, never … and I mean never … did I ever claim that I was *not* a goofball.

Haha! I just added this feature, too. It did well recording my computer ‘acting’ as Stephen Hawking to endorse my blog, which turned out to be hilarious.

However, I tried to use it tonight to tell a joke and it didn’t turn out so well. After recording it 10 times, the magic of the joke was over and it didn’t sound spontaneous and cool like yours. *sigh*

    Encore! More! Author!

  2. AWE Says:

    Nice voice.

First we see Stolie, well parts of her, and now we hear Stolie. What’s next?

  3. Sid Says:

Haha, I love it. As further proof we are in fact cybertwins, I’ll have you know this is exactly what I sound like when testing any new voice recording device. If you want proof, next time we get together I’ll play you the first voice recording I made on my iPod.

  4. Tonito Bandito Says:

A lovely voice to now go with the image of my funky divette.

  5. Mel Chickk Says:

    Pretty cool!

  6. ErikWithaK Says:

Fucking fantastic I say! Made my day.

  7. stolie Says:

Howard: You’re very creative! :-) And, yeah, I’ll probably do another audio post now that I know how the whole thing works.

AWE: Tune in tomorrow to see / hear the voyeuristic blog relationship continue here at the Funky Brown Chick! What will Stolie do next?!?!! :)

Sid : We have to get together again soon!!! And, yes, bring the iPod!!! :)

Tonito Bandito: I totally and completely *adore* you, pumpkin!!! :)

Mel Chickk: It took me ages to figure out exactly how it works, but it turns out that it’s a lot easier than I thought it would be in the beginning.

ErikWithaK: Anything to “make the day” for one of my readers! :)

  8. Dear Lovey Heart Says:

pretty nifty! you sound very pleasant.

  9. Anhoni Patel Says:

you are such a dork. so…where’s the audio blog??

    ps. hi.

  10. stolie Says:

Dear Lovey Heart: Thank you!!! :)

Anhoni Patel: I try my best! :) Yeah, the audio blog is coming. Bit by bit. The first step was to see if I could figure it all out. The next step is to actually audioblog an entire post. The Funky Brown Chick will never go 100% audio; it’ll just be an occasional thing. By the way, I’m glad you’re back; I wondered where you went. :)

  11. JohnJEnright Says:

Hey a voice without an accent. You must be from Chicago!

  12. stolie Says:

Chicagoans have the best accent in the world! :)

  13. Andy Says:

You know, I never expected you to sound like a California “Valley Girl,” but I think you do. Nice voice!

(By the way, did you know I also named my first audio post, “Baby’s First Audio Post”? Great minds think alike, Stols.)

  14. stolie Says:

Really?!?! Just now, I scrolled through your archives to try to find your post. It was a while ago, no? I remember listening to it, but I didn’t remember the title was the same. Very funny! :)

And, what’s this about a Valley Girl?!?!?!

  15. lala Says:

Fast talker? Not at all! I could still understand you and it sounded like you were breathing… If you really want to learn to talk fast, I’ll introduce you to my sister-in-law – but then you’ll have to learn Spanglish

  16. goldennib Says:

I didn’t expect you to sound so young. God, I’m getting old.

  17. stolie Says:

lala: Wow! Your sister-in-law speaks Spanish?

goldennib: No, no, no … don’t feel old. Really, I’ve been told by plenty o’ people that my voice sounds young. (I’ll probably be a 91-year-old great great gramma with the exact same voice!)

  18. Anonymous Says:

Well, that was the excitement for my day! LOL Press enter *click*

  22. Carlos Says:

I have to agree. I didn’t expect you to sound so young. Totally destroyed my mental image of you.

  23. stolie Says:

Hey, hey, hey now. None of this “voice-ism” shit. I’m still the same Stolie that you know and love. And, by the way, if it counts for anything … my voice gets really low and deep when I have a cold. ;)
