I Like to Watch

June 16th, 2006 Posted in Blogging

I don’t know if it’s the thrill of peaking into someone else’s life or if it’s just that I’m a dirty girl but … I like to watch. I do. There’s something kind of mysterious and sexy about it. It’s like you’ve got the action going on right in front of your eyes and you’re watching everything happen, *but* no one knows that you’re there. Or, maybe they know that you’re there, but they don’t acknowledge it. I think you know what I’m talking about …

I’m a lurker. Seriously. My Bloglines subscription is fairly long, and I have a couple more blogs bookmarked. I stop. I look. Sometimes I comment; sometimes I don’t. And, because it’s Friday, I thought I’d give you a little voyeuristic peak into a few random blog posts that I really liked this week. Excluding members of the Stolie Nation and in no particular order …

I Heart New York is a classic post, but I think the humor is probably lost on those who don’t live in New York. The blogger, Fastlad, is an Irishman living here in the City. If he posts, I read. He’s witty. He’s political. The kid routinely gives good blog. ya chew it is a post from last week, but I don’t read saskiablog as often as I’d like so I didn’t see it until yesterday. By the way, I don’t miss dropjes (fucking things are disgusting), but I do really miss the Netherlands. Moving right along … Okay so, technically, to keep with the theme I should pick only one post, but I love Pink is the New Blog so much that I can’t really decide which of this week’s posts is my favorite.

Hmmm … what were some of your favorite posts from other blogs this week?

* By the way, as usual, lurkers are encouraged to delurk themselves; isn’t today as good a day as any? So, if you’ve been lurking on the Funky Brown Chick for a little while now, why not come out and say hi? :)

Ooh, ooh, ooh … I *LOVE* finding out about new and interesting blogs. I checked that guy out and he seems cool. (I’d add it to my Bloglines, but his posts are too long; I have a 4-paragraph max attention span for blogs.)

Darn it, I just realised that you wanted us to pick our favourite posts! Ok here goes:

I dunno if you’ve come across this already but I really like this blog, it’s written by a bouncer who works at a club in NYC (so you should like it quite a bit I think!)

I’m also a regular lurker (I’ve commented maybe twice ever but I’ve been reading this for months) on the Company Bitch’s blog. She is easily one of the funniest most sarcastic women who blog and she writes in a way
that you can really relate tosometimes.

Another blog I regularly lurk is The Assimilated Negro, but I think you must be reading it too.

BOTS is a hillarious blog that cracks me up everytime I read it, again they bitch about random happenings in New York. Hmm does anyone else spot a trend here I seem to lurk at a lot of blogs from New York!

Finally, I cannot get enough of the Savage Chickens. I LOVE these cartoons!

I read a lot of NYC sites too. One of my favorite is The Hungry Cabbie don’t read his blog before lunch, he will starve you to death.

I much prefer the term “lurker” to “stalker,” the latter of which I have been called…and rightfully deserve such a label. I visit your blog regularly, but have yet to leave a comment. It’s not that I don’t want to comment…I do. …But then I read all of the other witty comments that have already been posted and everything I can think of to write seems pointless. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I love your blog….and if I ever think of a comment worth writing, I will :-)

The lovely Mir has a new blog at http://www.wantnot.net – very cool. My favorite posts of late is the one about a free bunco kit because, well, I like free stuff.

I also *heart* Friday Playdate quite a bit.

    Um,

    There are other blogs?

That would require looking outside the snowglobe? Why would you want us to do that?

  9. AmyD Says:

Hahaa! At first, I just had this visual of you watching 70’s porno flicks or something. “I like to watch…” ;o)

Since I used to be a lurker, I will second the emotion and encourage ALL lurkers to come out of the internet-closet already. Come on! It’s fun! And tastes like chicken!!!

I suppose I should say hi… I’ve been lurking for a while. I keep meaning to comment, but I don’t usually have anything to actually say, and lack the courage to post my un-witty comments. :)

I don’t have favourite posts; I don’t think I’ve read enough of anyone’s blog to have faves yet.

Darwin: No worries. Favorite blog, favorite posts. Doesn’t matter. THANK YOU for the sites. I’d neither heard nor read either of them before. I liked two so much that I added them to my Bloglines.

AWE: Nice one! I added him, too. :)

Frug: YAY!!!! Welcome to the (public enjoyment of) the blog!!! Really, I mean it. Thanks for de-lurking yourself. And, by the way, no need to be extra-special witty or whatever with your comments. I’ve left plenty ‘o comments here as well as on others blogs that simply sayd: “thanks” or “that sucks” or “you’re funny” or whatever. By the way, I checked out your blog. LOVE the post about the interview. I added you to my bloglines.

    MamaChristy: Very nice!

    Raymond: :)

AmyD: Believe or not, I’ve only seen one porno movie in its entirety. It was called something like “Spice Girls and the Dicks That Enter Them”. It was about, surprise surprise, a group of women that looked a lot like the Spice Girls. I watched it with a male friend … By the way, *LOVE* the “tastes like chicken” joke. :)

kypris : Welcome to the blog!!!!! I don’t why, but I get **really** excited whenever a new person delurks. “Ooooh,” I say to myself, “I didn’t know Mr/Ms [insert blogger name] was out there.” :)
