The Power of Pink Panties
There are very few obstacles in life that you can’t overcome by simply wearing a nice pair of pretty pink panties. So, that’s exactly what I did for The WYSIWYG Talent Show. I was nervous about doing my first public “performance”, but I wore nice panties and it all turned out okay. Hell, I even brought along an extra pair of pink & lacy panties to show to everyone in the audience!
Actually, the pair for the audience was a prop for my dramatic performance of the Gotta Go Pee Pee Dance. (For my show, I also told a story about my date with a guy who didn’t wear underwear. Don’t worry … I’ll write that up and stick in a post sometime soon.) I wish you all could have been there. People laughed. They clapped. They didn’t throw anything at me. All in all, I think it went well. And, by the way, big huge hat tip to the boys that I shared the stage with that evening — Liam, Jon, Peter, Chris, Drub and Dan. They were GREAT!!! Hat tip to the Bowery Poetry Club and organizers, Chris and Andy, as well.
So, now, it’s your turn. Tell me about a time that you were on stage, gave a presentation, performed, or whatever. I know that at least one of you is a meeting facilitator. And, I know that we have an actress and a comedian out there, too. But, who knows who lurking out there in the small cybercrowd. Anyone got any funny, sad, scary, or interesting stories about being in front of a crowd?

WOW I am first!!
Congrats on doing great (we all knew you would) and good call on the panties!!!!
I am a bit of a shy person when it comes to being up in front of a crowd, so I don’t have to many got up there willingly stories. I do have two though: The first one would be when I was in 9th grade and participated in my school talent show. I dressed up like an explorer and lipsynched to The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Which went well except that I stepped on the poor sleeping Lion’s head and he didn’t talk to me for the next six weeks. The other one, would be we were having one of those work bonding meetings where everyone had to stand up and introduce themselves. I, said hi my name is Felicia and I blanked on my last name. That was 2 years ago and I still walk by people who are like…do you know who you are???
Congrats again on a job well done !!!!!!!!

Congratulations! I knew you’d do well. I’ll have to think of a story for you being on stage all the time. Of course, I still have to write up my mom’s story of me at age 2 or 3 singing “Sugar, Sugar” in a bus station in front of waiting passengers over and over again, but I have to talk to my mom about it. I don’t remember it. :) Gotta get ready for work!

Yay! I knew it would go well! Good move on the pink panties. You automatically guaranteed the attention of all the men in the audience with those. ;o)

Way to go girl.
And Amy is right, you have the attention of the men in the audience.

Just wanted to say that I got to see you perform Wednesday night (my first time at a WYSIWYG!), and you ROCKED! Definitely one of the best performances of the night. Hope you do it again soon!

see, told ya! ;)of course you were great! i’d have loved to see the look on the audience’ faces when you pulled out those panties, though… ;)
as to your question: no funny onstage performances to date, but i’ll work on that…

YAY Stolie!
I knew you’d knock’em dead! And the pink underwear undoubtedly helped!
Ah yes, when I was young I was a bit of a performer. I think I was 6, in ‘Beavers’ (mini-scouts) when I lead the entire city-wide troupe in a rousing edition of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
But then again, I’ve always been one comfortable in front of a crowd, speaking, giving toasts, making fun of myself (I’m quite good at that!) or for work, giving presentations and facilitating public meetings etc.
So long as it is NOT karaoke, I’m fine – the minute karaoke comes into the equation, I simply find a place to hide.
Once again Stolie Huge CONGRATS and a GIANT high five from Vancouver! Wish I could have been there!

You’re kidding about the Philly thing!! How come u have never come? You know that u can take a train out of Penn Station and here there like in an hour.. but, what am I saying… Philly is boring!!! I’m just visiting friends and that’s why it’s fun.. but the town really sucks.. I’ll go over to NYC tomorrow, I wanna see another broadway show.. any suggestions?

History Chic: I *LOVE* that song!!
Howard: Hey, post that whole story on your blog!!! I’m sure you were an ADOREABLE little child. :)
AmyD: I’m not sure what the reaction from the boys was. Oddly enough, the stage lights are so bright that you can’t really see anyone in the crowd. I saw, maybe, the front row or so, but I couldn’t see much further than that. But, as a general rule, men love panties!!
AWE: THANKS!!! And, this reminds me that I’m due for another panty post someday soon.
Chris: YAY!!! Thanks for showing up at the event and supporting us lowly bloggers / readers!!
Firefly: I would have loved to see them too. :) Noboby told me that spotlights are so bright. You can even see yourself spitting as you talk. Now that I think about it, that part was really gross.
Mitch: Wait a minute … Boy Scouts are called “Beavers” in Canada?!?!!? That’s too cute. And, by the way, I ***LOVE*** karaoke. IF you ever find yourself in New York City, I’m soooo gonna kidnap you and make you go sing karaoke with me and my friends.
Raymond: OOOOH! That would be FUN. For the record, I’m the youngest child in my family. All youngest children are natural born performers.
Nat: Yep. It’s true. Believe it or not, I’ve never been to Philly. Hmmm … maybe I’ll take your suggestion and grab a train from Penn Station one day. And, oooh, you’re thinking theater. My top picks would be: Avenue Q, Sweeney Todd, RENT, or The Color Purple. And, of course, the Culture Project ROCKS!!! I’d highly suggest anything and everything that they put on. Not to mention, I hear Dylon McDermott … or is it Dermott Mulroney (I always confuse those two) is in one of their current shows. He’s a HOTTIE!!!!!! :)

I’m so glad it went well :) It’s a great feeling when you can give a good performance. Are you going to do more performances in the future?
I’ve performed my share of times in various ways: playing the violin, acting(in French Immersion in secondary school, but it was performed publicly and some of it was even filmed by the news! That was pretty awesome) and I’ve danced in my share of plays and dance shows. I also compete in ballroom dance, which is just as much of a show as everything else…but I’m not at a high level yet so I can’t compare to the real champion dancers.
The one thing I cannot do easily is speak in front of an audience, so I tip my hat to you, Stolie.

Ro: THANKS LADY!! :)
kypris: It was a lot of fun, so I’ll probably look for ways to do it again sometime in the future. By the way, the violin is my absolute favorite instrument!!!!

Have to give presentations at department meetings everytime I go on a conference. They attendees are VERY glum, like something stuck up their bum! I always try to use humour to disarm them.
Like my previous conference was Teched.. the whole city of Auckland turned into Geekcity for 3 days. By coincidence, on the 3rd day, there was a parade to promote Erotica Expo.
I started by saying “Queen street turned into Silicon Valley for a whole 30 minz, Pun intended” I couldn’t get ppl to stop laughing. Reason:- The parade was theamed “Boobs on Bikes” a whole lot of chicks on huge bikes wearing nothing but skimpy panties (or similar)! :-)

I have to agree that pink undies are the cutest. I have a couple of pairs of guys pink bikini briefs and some pink panties that I wear. They just make me feel cute and no one knows except my gf. OK, well except you now, but this is anonymous right? LOL
