Hillary for President?

Time goes by so quickly. I just realized tomorrow is New York state residents’ deadline to register to vote in the November 7 mid-term elections. I’m already registered to vote; but, as a few of you know, I’ve recently moved. And, as such, I need to update my voter registration information and obtain a new card. It’s a pain in the ass, but it’s worth it. So, if you haven’t already registered, please remember to do so before the deadline approaches, my sweet little pumpkins! New York’s deadline is October 13. If you don’t live in New York, you can check your state’s deadline by clicking here.

Hmmm … Who will get my vote? A proud Illinoisan, I was and still am a strong supporter of my homestate’s Barack Obama. (No, he’s not up for re-election this year … I just, you know, wanted everyone to know that I’m a fan of the man. A huge fan. Okay, so, now, moving right along… ) Now that I’m officially a New York resident, I can’t vote in Illinois elections anymore; therefore, when November 7 rolls around, I’ll be voting with New Yorkers. I haven’t made up my mind about everyone on the ballot yet, but I do know that I’m gonna vote Hillary Clinton for Senator. (Her challenger is Mr. “Chinaman’s Chance” John Spencer. I’ll be surprised if he wins but, you know, stranger things have happened.

So, this blog rarely touches on politics, but I do have any interesting “political” question for you: If Hillary Clinton wins her 2006 Senate re-election bid, do you think she will run for president in 2008? And, if she doesn’t run, do you think Barack Obama will?

My state’s deadline was last Friday.

I think she will run and Bill is going to push her just so he can be called the First Man.

I think she’ll probably run, too. But, I don’t think she would win.

You know, I used to really dislike Hillary. I’m all for women in office, but for a while there it felt to me like she was going places only because she was married to a former president. I had a big issue with her going places not on her own merrits, but on the back of her husband.

Now I think I would vote for the woman if she were to run for president. No matter what her past is, I think that she truely wants what’s best for this country. It is very evident now that the ass in office wants what’s best for him and his cronies and not the country he ought to be serving. I just wish that someone worthwhile and not corrupt would run for once. Colin Powell, why did you desert us?

There was a time I’d vote for Hillary in a heartbeat, but with her moving ever so close to the middle, she now really offers to true alternative to the other party. Although, I would love to see her win so Bill would be first man. :)

If Barack Obama ran, not only would I vote for him, I’d probably volunteer for his campaign. Yes, he inspires that much blind faith. He has quickly won me over with his charisma and his forthrightness. I hope he “stays the course” with his honesty and his willingness to take on things that are bigger than himself.

I can’t help but think of the disservice Hillary did to feminism by staying married to that philanderer. Kick that man to the curb! He is dead weight. She doesn’t need him to be successful.

MamaChristy: Colin Powell is a good man.

Howard: I volunteered on Obama’s election campaign when I was in Illinois. I didn’t get a chance to meet him personally, but his office sent each and everyone volunteer a nice Christmas card that year. Gotta love him!! :) And his book, Dreams from My Father, is fantastic!

GrizzBabe: He was president. I don’t think she could (or would) have divorced him even if she wanted to. Now that he’s out of office, it must be love or something that keeps them together.

tara: Isn’t he AMAZING!!! I really think he should run for president.

Ooooh, good topic today! Something I know a thing or two (but not more than 3 things) about! ;o)

Personally, I think Barack Obama (who is in my state today, touting for MY Governor…) should run as the Presidential candidate, and have Hilary as his running mate. I still don’t know if this America is ready for all that yet, sadly, but I definitely think it’s time to freaking find out. Small mindedness is killing me slowly…

Oh, what? What were we talking about? Sorry, I got lost in my own political angst for a moment. Don’t mind me. It’s only my JOB… ;o)

Have a great weekend, girl!!
