Well, ladies and gentleman, I was wrong. A short while ago I predicted that People Magazine would name David Beckham to be the 2006 Sexiest Man Alive (SMA). I mean, you know, the signs were all there. I expected a Blonde Threepeat: Jude Law won in 2004, Matthew Mcconaughey in 2005, and i thought Beckham would take it home this year. Well, the newest issue of People Magazine hits newsstands today and — to my utter amazement — not only did they not select David Beckham, they (thankfully) returned to their rich tradition of selecting brunettes:
Ahhhh, George Clooney: An Ultimate “It” Boy. Somehow this man just seems to get better and better with age. If you remember, he was also named SMA in 1997. Oooooh, he’s good. SMA in 1997 *and* again a decade later?!?! Wow! I guess the people have spoken. Or, more appropriately, People Magazine has spoken. So, now, it’s your turn. Please use the comment section in the header of this post to tell me, George Clooney: (a) still YUMMY after 10 years; (b) still not sure how I feel about this guy; or (c) still shocked that the folks at People Magazine actually think this loser from The Facts of Life is hot.

The Sexiest Man in the World is probably one poor, humble taxi driver in Cambodia, strangling the cats with his “Love Me Tender”, all the way to the hotel and charging only five bucks for a trip of 150 miles. And you get that chicken (alive) for free!

Oh and I just watched the new James Bond movie. Don’t know if you’re a fan or not, but I must say I (and all the female friends with whom I went) enjoyed the gratuitous exposed male flesh… And we enjoyed the movie, despite some of its non-Bondlike parts.
such a boring selection – really, Clooney is hot but could they come up with a more inspired selection. There are so many hotties around.
Must say steep improvement though upon the past two- neither of whom I considered hotties.
As for Beckham, I don’t think they get his appeal state side.
I don’t usually obsess over Hollywood types or the rich and the famous – but George Clooney?? for that man, I’ll make an exception!!! He definitely gets better with age….
History Chic: I agree!! I wasn’t really a fan on the man when in was on The Facts of Life, Roseanne and all of the other 80s and 90s shows. But, as he gets older, I become more and more of a fan.

kypris: Yep. Just saw it, too. I was noooot looking forward to seeing Daniel Craig in the role since, you know, my heart belongs to my baby Pierce & I am generally not a fan of blondes. *BUT*, believe it or not, I was impressed by Casino Royale.
Distar: I agree with you about the Beckham thing *and* about the SMA selections. It’s kinda like they select different variations of the same guy. It would be nice if they’d give a nod to Daniel Sunjata, Lenny Kravitz, John Abraham, and other hotties more often. And, not to mention, the redhead guys on the earth *NEVER* get any love from the SMA folks.
