Reader Appreciation / Open Letter to Kyla
Hiya! It’s me. The Funky Brown Chick. I don’t know you and you don’t know me but, the other day while scanning various blogs, I stumble across your site and I think: “Ooh, goody, this person links to me!” But, then I get a closer look. And, I grow slightly distressed. Now, Kyla, I should probably first explain — with complete sincerity & without an ounce of sarcasm — that I always feel really honored when other bloggers like my blog enough to link to it. I’m just, you know, a bit shocked to see what *you’ve* written about my blog. On your site, you have two lists of bloggers. About the bloggers in the first list, you say: “these lives interest me.” The bloggers in the other list? About them you say the following [and I quote]: “don’t know if I’d necessarily recommend them, but I read them sometimes.” Sadly, of course, FUNKYBROWNCHICK.com is on that list.
Kyla, Kyla, Kyla. Sweetie, I’m hurt. Why don’t you have cyberlovin’ for me? Do I smell? Does The Funky Brown Chick offend you? Is there too much mention of boobies & boys around here? I’m not quite sure what it is, but I can only hope to gain your affection one day. SO, here’s hoping that you might eventually read my blog more often than “sometimes”. And, maybe, if I’m lucky, you’ll recommend FUNKYBROWNCHICK.com to your readers one day. Until then, I dedicate this Reader Appreciation Day to you, my sweet. So, let the lovin’ begin …

shit! did i not update? i thought i did. you know, there was a period where my template kept getting half-eaten by blogger and i had to redo it by hand a few times before finally catching on and saving it to my desktop every or most times i update. so, but i probably lost some updates somewhere in there. off to go fix…

I don’t have a blog but if I did you would be on my hit list as in, “hit this girl up! She’s light, she’s funny, and she’s approachable (whatever that equates to in an electronic universe), but she can also make you think when she feels like it. Plus she has a rule that all her readers must be kind to one another – so most likely a kind person.”

I scoured the list to see mathandahalf, but alas, I am not loved. I am not loved, updated or woefully un-updated. I am not loved as a blogger you’ve met. Do I have my own category? Oh, sweetie, I *totally* meant to include you in the group of blogs that are “Dearly Departed and Deeply Missed.” :-( Please forgive the oversight. I’ll definitely make it up to you and correct it with the next edition of the Reader Appreciation.
About the trip home, my sister is picking me up at the airport and I’ll be spending all of my time with her family. So, unfortunately, I’m not gonna have time to any any friends on this trip.
***BUT*** I hope to make it back for a friends-only trip in the Spring. And, I wanna bring New York friends with me on that trip.
So, if I don’t make it for your wedding ( but I hope that I will), I’ll catch up with you on the next trip to Chicago!!
