A “Manly” St. Patrick’s Day
March 12th, 2007 ·
Quick Question: Does anyone know where I can get a tight little green T-shirt that either says “I’m Not Irish But Fuck Me Anyway” or “I’m A Drinker, Not A Fighter”? I can’t believe St. Paddy’s Day is this weekend. It’s like the days of 2007 are zooming right past me. One day it’s New Year’s and the next it’s St. Paddy’s. I always feel like of like a geek / tourist / rookie when I celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. But, I can’t help it. I’m a sucker for holidays in general. But, I digress. Whatever. Back to the matter at hand …
Every Monday, as many of you know, I take a moment to celebrate the nice, young, fine, bedicked bretheren of the earth. Yep. Men. *MAN*ly Monday. (Psst! If you want to see all previous Manly Monday posts, click here.) So, who are we celebrating today? Why, none other than the actor, producer, CK Underwear model, Academy Award-nominatee formerly known as the 90’s rapper “Marky Mark”.
“So, why Mark Walhberg today?” you might ask. Well, okay, follow me on this one … St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, right? Question: Who celebrates St. Patrick’s Day??? Answer: Every self-respecting drinker. Oh, and, yeah, a couple of Irish-American folks celebrate, too.
Mark Walhberg is rough-and-tough Irish boy from Boston. But, you know what? He’s hot. And, that’s exactly why we’re celebrating him today. Man, I could hardly watch the movie Truth About Charlie. Have you seen it? It came out 4 or 5 years ago. Mark Wahlberg is in it. He’s hot, his co-star (Thandie Newton) is hot and the whole thing takes place in Paris, France. Sizzling. I swear I almost burned my eyeballs up by watching it. If you haven’t seen it, you should check it out. If you’re interested, there’s a pretty decent writeup of it on Salon.com.
Hmmm … I could go on and on about Marky Mark, but I guess I’ll stop there. But, before I go, lemme ask you this: What are you doing for St. Patrick’s Day this year?

Hi, I'm

I’ll be in Houston at the 100th birthday party for my grandfather’s first cousin.
He could be in my Funky Bunch any day :)
I will be celebrating March Madness at a Pub with my brackets. I don’t know the first thing about college basketball but I love this time of year. Cute boys, drinking, and an excuse to act silly in public….EXCELLENT
First time reader - great site!
The Junk Food tee shirt line has a shirt that says “Kiss Me, I’m Irish Today.” Not exactly “I’m Not Irish But Fuck Me Anyway” but you never know where that kiss may lead you. : )
I’m gonna celebrate it with gallons of alcohol! can’t wait..
Raymond: Aww! That sounds really nice.
Felicia: “He could be in my Funky Bunch any day. FUNNY!!! :-)
ChiGirl: YAY!!! Welcome to the blog. And, you’re right … you never know where kissing might lead.
Nat: I’m still not sure what we’re all doing to celebrate but I’m sure that it will involve alcohol.
I’m going to be buried deep under a data center in Little Rock, AR getting my upgrade on. No drinky-drinks for me. :(
How bout this … you upgrade, *then* you do drinky-drinks? :-)
If the upgrade completes anytime before Sunday night, drinky-drinks are sure to follow.
FBC…it’s been too long! I get back on the site and then you leave it!
I’ll be in NY for the St. Patty’s day parade, yay! Visiting my friend who goes to school out there ;-) Neither of us is anywhere near Irish, but we will def. drink in honor of March 17th!!!
Ooooh! The parade!!! :)
I did it on my first visit to New York, before I moved here & I absolutely loved it.
It’s really touristy and *super* crowded, but I think everyone should do it at least once.
I will be attending a partay with some friends and lotsa drinky drinks……. and then the Sunday throw up and achey heady head…
My friends and I had a “hangover / recovery brunch” today. :-)
Nice!
