Andy: I totally agree with you about the numero uno bogeyman stuff!!

Amy: Yeah, the affordable housing issue touches single-income folks in all large cities in the US.

Mitch said: ... and in Canada. ;) It's weird when you think about it. A generation ago, *1* income supported a couple and at least one kid. With current wages, people take on 2nd jobs, side-hustles and everything else just to get by. It's like you need *2* incomes to support *1* person now. At any rate, I'll let you all know how the rally goes ...

Ah yes, that inevitable issue of Affordable Housing!

It doesn't matter what City, the problem exists, and it's no different here in Vancouver!

Hopefully enough people will force a change...

Bless you for bringing this up in your blog and to your vast audience. I truly believe that affordable housing will be our generation's numero uno bogeyman. It wasn't too long ago--maybe a generation?--that a house was within reach of everyone who worked hard and saved carefully. But now I think that dream is quickly falling out of reach for many of us, hard work and careful savings or not. And that's a tragedy.
