Last night, my friend Anna-Scarlet called me to tell me she just got dumped via a text message that simply said: “I’m leaving for good on Friday. It was nice knowing you.” I’m writing at Nerve today; head over there if you want to hear the details of her story.

Since I don’t want to register to comment on this topic on Nerve I will leave my response here. I too was a victim of the text message dumper. We weren’t technically in a relationship but when he would come to town we would hook up and there some inkling of more. In any event, the was also a guy I knew for over 5 years as a friend before we started screwing and who had never texted me before. The night he texted me I was expecting him back at the apartment. I had cooked and I wanted to spend some QT with him before he headed back home. I was in shock when it happened and had a similar response as your girl. After he got back home though it all hit me like a ton of bricks and I wanted/needed/demanded an explanation. How dare he reduce our five years to a text message. It was eating me up inside so I had to let him know that I was pissed as hell with a helping of hurt on the side. Needless to say he could have cared less. It taught me a lesson — a piece of ass is simply that to a man. I am still bitter as hell.
hmmm. but that is ridiculousness. a text msg! people (men and women both i think) lack balls.
Oh, and did I mention that we are both well over 30??? that’s some high school type stuff…bastid!

Dumped Too: No prob about commenting here. This post is really an abberation because it’s basically just a heads up about the post at Nerve. By the way, your story is absolutely crazy. It seems that the whole “text dumping” stuff happens more than you’d think. Oh, and, about the over 30 stuff? Completely agree. It’s like the saying goes: you can be young once, but immature forever. There are plenty of mature 20-somethings and immature 30-somethings.
