“The people that I want to date aren’t online,” my friend Veronica responds when I ask her why she won’t try online dating. After thinking for a second, she adds, “I guess the kind of guy that I’m looking for doesn’t need to go online to find dates.” I respect Veronica’s honesty, but I reject the notion that online dating is only for ugly or desperate people. Hell, I’m online. I’m not ugly. And, I’m certainly not desperate. There was a time when online dating probably wasn’t very socially acceptable. But, the way I see it, those days are gone. “Online dating. Offline dating. What’s the difference?” Actually, I’m glad that you’ve asked that question, dear reader, because that’s the topic of my post at Nerve today. See: Online Dating vs. Offline Dating.

Anybody who thinks it’s just ugly/desperate people using online dating sites need only check Nerve personals to get their heads straight.
I met my wife on Match.com, and she’s a serious cutie. Of course, I look like Gollum, so there are definitely some not-so-hot folks online also.
So, your lovey-dovey nickname is ‘My Precious’?!? ;-)
Alas, when I was still dating there wasn’t even an on-line to help me. Had to resort to Central Park to find a decent pool of candidates.
Doodlius, I couldn’t agree more re: Nerve Personals. Error Boy, you’re the only person who gets to call me ‘My Precious’ ;)
I’m all about online dating .. you get good and bad experiences both on and offline ..
Exactly! :)
I’m very skeptical of online dating but I was introduced to an up and coming site, http://www.buildmyspouse.com. It allows picky people like me to specify physical characteristics in matches before hand….down to eye color if I want. It launches in December and should cause some interest.
