My Lovely Lady Tweets

August 10th, 2007 Posted in Blogging

Just a quick update to let you know that I recently installed Twitter on my blog. Look to your right. No, not there. The *far* right. Under “First Time Here”. If you don’t know what Twitter is, google or wikipedia it. And, if you would like to read a beautifully-written piece on why Twitter (and Dodgeball) might be worth the rage, check out Clive Thompson’s piece in Wired magazine: How Twitter Creates a Social Sixth Sense. His article single-handed convinced me to sign up with Twitter. Ever the commitmentphobe, I’m trying it on for size over the next week or so. I’ll make a decision about whether or not I want to keep it on my blog after that.

On to other news … Big news, actually. I have two important updates for you and, oddly enough, they both fall under the general theme of “Going Places”. I’ll announce the first bit of news over at Nerve on Saturday. I’ll announce the other bit of news here on the FBC shortly thereafter.

Tech tips for all you ‘crackberry’ addicts with a Twitter account… get TwitterBerry (dedicated Twitter Client, free)

Secondly, highly recommend JiveTalk (IM client, you can add twitter there too for instant updates on the road)

I’m all atwitter over this new technology, but I think with all your jive talkin’ you’re telling me lies.

ErrorBoy: I gotta check that out.

Baba Doodlius: Me? Jive talk? Nope. Never. My words and just like my boobs … It’s 100% REAL babycakes! :)

I’ve never understood the appeal of Twitter. Do I need one more reason to be online all the damn time?? But that article was a better argument for it than I’ve read so far.

Also, per your Saturday story… they don’t serve alcohol there?? I would think in a place like that, it would be a MUST! :-) Can’t wait to hear your impressions of it.

Darwin: Hey Darwin!!! I missed you while you were away. I kept visiting yoru blog and leaving comments. I sadly wondered, “Is she ever coming back?” Glad you’re back online!

Stefanie: Yeah, I didn’t get it at all until I read that article. It was like a light bulb went on and I was like, “Oh, *THAT’S* why people like it. And, yeah, update on the sex club coming soon soiree! :)

Heya FBc, twitter is hot eh? I signed up ages ago, but I got fed up using it. I will use t again when I get a phone n the future with inetaccess, only then it will become interesting :)

  8. funkybrownchick Says:

Yeah, your phone really kind of has to have internet access and/or unlimited texting to make it worth the effort.

Ahhh, the twittertrap! I fell into it, and hard! When someone described it to me i thought “that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard!” But then I started to appreciate the brevity of it, and it’s microblogging/SMS GPS vibe. Een though it sometimes gets repetative, I get a kick out of the morning coffee tweets, the lunch description tweets, the TGIF tweets etc. Following hardcore twitterers is a strange window into their brains and their environments. I love it. I have to avoid watching Twittervision.com, because it’s terribly engrossing. Huge time waster.

When I’m off twitter, though, I have to admit that I feel cleaner, somehow. Don’t know why. Maybe because I’m an addict?

Also, I don’t usually use twitter from the computer, because that seems weird. I’m sitting at my desk. So what? I’m a txt gal, but I have unlimited texting, which makes it ok.

(paying $65 in txt charges before I made the switch to unlimited and I forgot to turn the damn thing off for four days? Total nightmare.)

    See you in the twitterverse!

Yes, my dear, you are an addict. But, aren’t we all?? :)
