Proportion, shape, and all that jazz, all of that factors into the aesthetic. I'll take small and real over large and fake any day. Anecdotal evidence: even though I like shapely women (or...hell, just women), I had a hearty crush on a college professor who was flatter than me just because her stick frame was who she was: a punk-rock art chick with dyed-black hair and ice-blue eyes.
