Okay, so, I have a new laptop. Originally, I wasn’t too sure which one I should purchase. In the end, the decision came down to money: Instead of buying what you all told me was the best computer on the market, I bought the computer that I could afford. How sad, right? Woe is me, the poverty-stricken writer. But, I guess it’s like Baba Doodlius said: “A computer is a computer.” And, when it comes to applications and functionality, I figured Doodlius was right. Hmmm … Now that I actually have the new laptop, it’s worth mentioning that my computer really isn’t like any other computer. It’s *my* computer. And, much like Kanye West is the #1 Human Being, my laptop is the #1 Laptop. At least in my eyes it is. So, here’s where you come into the picture. My computer needs a name, and I want you to give it one. Two fabulous readers, Mitch and MamaChisty, have already emailed me to give me their suggestions. Fully aware of my love of Paul Walker, MamaChristy brilliantly suggests that I name him “Paul”. Truth be told, I immediately liked that idea so much that I almost named the new guy Paul right away. But, when I thought about it further, it didn’t seem right. I mean, you know, just look at the new guy. Not to be goofy or anything but … well, um, you know … he’s black. And, Paul Walker isn’t. Shouldn’t the new guy’s name match his characteristics? Stylish. Thin. Cute. And, black. I can’t name him Denzel because that’s the name of my last laptop. (God rest his soul.) Mitch suggests “Taye” as is Taye Diggs. That works. But, there are so many other wonderful names as well:
Prince. Wayne. Lenny. Paul. Taye. Or, Kanye? Choices. Choices. Choices. (I couldn’t resist the urge to keep Paulie in the running because — when it comes to delicious male creatures of the earth — equal opportunity should always reign.) Whether this is your first 1st or your 100th visit to the FBC, please use the comment section to suggest a name for my computer. A SPECIAL NOTE TO LURKERS: Maaaan, I’m totally making this easy for you. All you have to do to delurk yourself today is post a single word. Prince, Wayne, Lenny, Taye, Paul, or Kanye. One word. Not sure if I’m allowed to throw another name into the mix, yet how about nominating the black writer, James Baldwin? You are a writer, and a very talented one at that, so the name James might be an inspiration. Of course James Baldwin was gay, but that shouldn’t matter. He WAS thin, small, stylish, talented and brave as heck. James gets my vote!
Prince would be the perfect name. He is also sleek, stylish, definitely sexy and black.
