I live in New York City. Alex Rodriguez, “A-Rod” if you will, is a big man around here if you know what I mean. No, really, I mean he’s big. Huge. Gigantic. Yep, folks. If you haven’t already heard the news, as of Tuesday, an 80-foot (24.4 meter) billboard of A-Rod now stands on the corner of 34th Street and 7th Avenue in Manhattan. Wow. Um, yeah, “wow” is all I have to say about that. I’ve always been more of a Derek Jeter kind of woman, so I’m not that impressed with A-Rod. And, now that I think about it, why didn’t Nike choose Jeter for the billboard? I wonder if it was the (alleged) Jessica Alba thing? Maybe Nike didn’t want to be known as the company that put the “24.4 Meter Herpes-Ridden Jeter” right smack in the lower part of midtown? But, anyway, whatever. Back to A-Rod. So, I’m curious to know your thoughts about the man. Is he droolworthy or not? Feel free to answer that question in anyway you like. You can tell us what you think of his playing skills, his level of attractiveness, the idea of an 80-foot / 24.4 meter billboard, or all three. So, what’s the verdict, folks? A-Rod: (a) I’ll take him at any height *OR* (b) that’s an awfully big billboard for a very “little” man.

A Rod is a cutie in the field of baseball. I would rather look at his 80 ft billboard than the one Baltimore did of Cal Ripken anyday……

Anyway, I don’t have a decent opinion on this since I’m barely familiar with baseball and not at all familiar with A-Rod, but I really think it would have been cool if they had just put up a 24.4 meter picture of a herpes virus. “Nike: Just Do It, Just Get It”.
A-Rod was a big deal. (I’m sure he still is, but us Seattllites can’t admit that) He was 18 when he was drafted by The Mariners and was very hot! He built a great career here then he left us for all that $$$$. I will have to say that he is droolworthy though I can’t stand the guy. Look at me! I’m delurking myself. ; )
ick..didn’t like him while he was here with the Rangers and still don’t. I think he is a bit overrated.
And definitely overpaid. Derek Jeter is Much Hotter, and I never heard whatever rumors you’re spreading. Get it, spreading?

I pretty much loathe the Spankies, but even I think A-Rod is pretty sweet to the eyes. And he actually seems like a pretty good guy. It doesn’t hurt that I think Jeter is a DICK. ;)

@ crazyleprechauns: NO ONE is in the same league as Theirry Henry on the international stage. Here in the US, most people have never heard of him. Soccer (um, I mean, “football”) hasn’t really caught on here yet. It’s more popular than it used to be, but it’s no where near the level of importance that it is in other countries.
