Update: First of all, I just wanted to say a public THANK YOU to all the folks who left supportive comments and sent kind emails to me yesterday. As I mentioned here and at Nerve, I’m gonna keep blogging the same as I always have — despite who at my church or in my family may be reading. So, now, on with the show …
Dating, like game shows, has so many scripts that are so familiar to so many of us. Older rich guy dates hot young girl. Couple dates for a long time only to learn that one was cheating on the other with a very good friend. Girl realizes that her true love is the longtime friend who’s been right in front of her eyes for a very long time. And, the stories go on. It seems like every dating story is a story that’s been told before. After more than a decade in the dating world, I can honestly say that I’ve “been there and done that” for a lot of stuff. However, the one dating script that has played itself out only once before in my life is the script where I meet a really sweet, attractive, interesting guy only to learn that he doesn’t live in my town. He’s just visiting for a few days. And, he wants to hang out with me while he’s here. Interesting enough, after happening only once before, this has happened to me TWICE this week. Head over to Nerve to read “I’m in Town for the Week” if you want the full details. In the meantime, here at FUNKYBROWNCHICK.com, I just wanted to share this YouTube video clip with you:

love connection was on point!!
Chuck woolery was ” a mans man”
I love Deal or no deal now though. it highlights todays greed. i saw one guy get offered 125k and his 10 year old son begged and pleaded with him to “take the money” He pushed it and ended up with $25…. The look of disgust on the kids face was PRICELESS!!! I actually saw him mouth the words….. ” You idiot”
LOVE CONNECTION!!! That’s the name of that show. Man, it was GREAT. I loved it when the dates went really really bad and the people didn’t hold back. “He wasn’t as attractive as I thought he’d be.” “She was really a bore on the date.” I loved it! :)
Press Your Luck! But really I love all game shows and my dream is to someday go on a game show. But one where I could really win money. :)
I was a contestant on an MTV game show called “Singled Out” when I lived in LA ages ago. But, sadly, there were no chances to win a lot of money. :(
fav quiz show – The Crystal Maze
You were doing the picking or one of the 50 on singled out?
What characteristics did you have on your badge? How far did you get?
You’ve seen Singled Out? I didn’t think anyone remembered that show!! :) I was one of the 50 single women, and the day that I was on the show was Jenny McCarthy’s birthday. I talked to her during the commercial break and she was surprisingly nice.
Anyway, so, on the show, the 49 other women and I were competing for the same guy. I made it down to one of the final rounds, and then he said something like, “Hootie and the Blowfish is my favorite band. Give me your best HOOTIE.” So, three of us had to yell “HOOTIE!!!” really loud. He picked me, so I was one of the three finalists that got to participate in the lightning round where each girl answers a question and takes a step forward if they get it right. (I think my red name badge thing said, “The Blowfish” or something like that.) Anyway, so, I was one of the three finalists at the very end of the show, but I didn’t win because I didn’t answer enough questions the right way.
Yeah I remember it. It was back in the day tho when I was growing up. And it had Jenny McCarthy and then Carmen Electra. You should definitely hunt down that video!
I should!!! I had a copy of it, but it’s long gone. I’m sure I could get an archive from MTV. I’ll look into that one day.
