I don’t feel 100%, but I’m back up and at ‘em; I’m ready to rejoin the land of the living. Yesterday, I stayed home and I called in sick to work. I spent most of my day laying on my couch wrapped in a blanket. And, of course, there was a small amount of special quality time with Oprah. I don’t watch The Oprah Show on a regular basis because I’m never home when it comes on. (Besides, these days, I don’t really watch anything on a regular basis that isn’t Nip / Tuck.) Anyway, so, yesterday Oprah did a show called, “The Greatest Love Story We’ve Ever Told“.
Herman Rosenblat and Roma Radzika met when they were 12 years old. Herman was in a concentration camp, and Roma came by daily to secretly give him apples through the fence. (Roma was Jewish as well, but her family pretended to be Christian.) Eventually, Herman gets moved from one camp to another, so he never sees Roma again. The Russians eventually liberate Herman’s camp. He survives, and he moves to grand old New York City. Something like 15 years later, a friend sets him up on a blind date and it’s with, yep, you guessed it, Roma Radzika. They don’t recognize each other but once they started talking about their childhoods the memories come flooding back. Now, of course, they’re married. They’ve been that way for almost 50 years. I’m not a sappy person, but even I think that’s a beautiful story. It makes me wanna believe in true love and all that mushy shit. In fact, I even took Oprah’s “What’s Your Love Type” a test to find out how my personality affects my love style. (See, I told you I was feeling mushy.) Oprah tells me I’m an “Explorer” in love. I’m like [and I'm quoting directly from the site here]: a “bad-boy rocker who lives hard, taking drugs and having risky sex“. Oh my. They know me too well. ;) Anyway, if you’re interested to find out whether or not you’re Tommy Lee’s doppelganger too, take the test.
PS: If you’re in the mood for even more cute and mushy gushy stuff, my friend of my friend CaliforniaGirl has a video in one of those YouTube contests. If you like the video below, click here to vote for it. (Yeah, yeah. Shameless plug, I know.)

I’m an explorer/negotiator. Makes total sense.
That is a sweet story. I’m still a cynic but once in a while something beautiful and sentimental breaks through my heart of stone and crumbles it all to dust.
I got a tie between director/ negotiator, and next was 1 point down with explorer. I think that might make me a freaky smoothtalking controlfreak….I prefer to just say i’m a scorpio however……
That video is precious…how romantic! The story about the couple who found each other again after many years struck a chord, too. I honestly believe that happens more than people realize. It also supports my theory about timing being everything when it comes to true love. Time allows us to grow, heal, and “morph” (for a lack of a better word) into the people we need to be in order for it to work with that right person.
I took the quiz and was labeled a negotiator. Apparently that means I’m “superb at handling people.” Sounds about right. ;o)
Glad you’re feeling better! Take it easy.
I totally read about Herman and Roma in one of those Chicken Soup for the Soul books. I teared up. I’m such a sap.
@ Tess: So good to see you at the reading tonight. Can’t wait till Sunday. :)
@ Dkzone: Maaaaan, you Scorpios! I’m not into the whole astrology thing, but even I know what they say about Scorpios. :)
@ AmyD: Yeah, timing *IS* everything. There are people that I probably would have settled down with pretty seriously if I’d met them at a different time. And, of course, I’ve dated people in the past that I wouldn’t touch with a 10-foot pole if I met them now.
@ Kristal: It’s a beautiful story, isn’t it??
FBC, if you’re primarily an Explorer what your secondary type? By the way, boil two halves of a lemon in water and drink it–it’s an old Haitian remedy. We swear by it. Everyone knows that vitamin C is great for colds/flus. But you more than triple your dosage by boiling down the lemon skin to release its oils. Hope you’re feeling better.
I’m much better now! I had this lemon tea concoction thing, and it worked wonders. I don’t remember what my secondary type was because all of the numbers were close. It was something like 21, 18, 18, 17.
Interesting…I’m a Director (with negotiator and builder tied for a close second). I always knew I had too much testosterone! lol
A lot of testosterone can be a GOOD thing!!! :)
