David “Goldenballs” Beckham
Ah, underwear. I’m definitely a fan. Especially when there’s a sexy man snugly held inside of them. D Becks is today’s Manly Monday pick at FUNKYBROWNCHICK.com because, as you’ve probably already heard, his Armani Spring/Summer 2008 ad campaign is in the new Vanity Fair. “The former England captain stares sternly from the poster as if defying anyone to suggest a little computer enhancement might have contributed to the chiselled six-pack or, indeed, to any other parts of his striking physique,” the Daily Mail comments. Man, who cares if David’s photo is enhanced. Aren’t ALL magazine images doctored? Wait. Scratch that.
Maybe underwear is more “revealing” in terms of self-esteem / identity than it is about, you know, flesh. (For women and for men.) I certainly think Jamie Lee Curtis’ underwear photo “bared” more than David Beckham’s — even though his shows more skin. Hmmm … it’s definitely a little manly mental meat for thought. In any case, if you want to find a copy of Beckham’s photo in Vanity Fair, follow the trails of drool to a newsstand near you.

I think the interesting thing about the jamie curtis pic is that body Vs. the body she had in “true lies” she was smokin in that movie and it wasn’t all that long ago. I think it boils down to how people look in general Vs how they look made up for display.
I don’t wear underwear to impress a woman…….i take my underwear off to do that ;)

Media images of celeberities have become so tightly controlled (particularly for women) it’s no wonder people got themselves worked up when a woman “of a certain age” dared to appear naturally. Look at the feeding frenzy when Britney Spears performed looking less than perfect. She wasn’t even fat, just average. Actually, she was in pretty good shape for a mother of two (or is it three – I don’t even care). Who has alcohol and drug abuse issues.

@ Dkzone: Yeah. You should totally check out Jamie Lee Curtis’ photos in More. The first one is au natural. They have one of her all made up. Supposedly, it took 13 hours to transform her from the first look to the second one … and that’s not even counting the airbrushing and other photo doctoring they do.

She certainly ‘bared more’ than Becks, her photo reminds me a lot of the adverts for ‘Dove – campaign for real beauty’ which I thought was a pretty cool concept. Did they show it over there too or was it just over here?
