Do You Mind If I Show You My Panties?
I’ve got sex on my mind lately because I’m writing a chapter about the topic for a really great anthology. I skipped a party last night, stayed up late and woke up early to work on my piece. It’s like 98% there, but I need another hour or so to get the closing paragraph in really good shape. In addition to working on that, I’m wrapping up a pitch for an unrelated print magazine story. I did an interview for that at 8:00am this morning, and I have two more scheduled in the coming days. Crazy busy. Today on FUNKYBROWNCHICK, I wanted to write a post about my dating life … and recent insights a couple of guy friends have given me about “The Male Perspective on Dating” … but I don’t have time. I’m running out the door, getting ready to head to my day job. Twanna, loved your article on the picture session with Bill. In the 3 shots featured on his blog, he captured your pensive and intellectual depth while simultaneously using props and decor to bring out the jovial, whimsical disposition that really comes across in your writing. In the end, you got the upper hand with your article, not because you disclosed some dirt on the photographer, but artistically, you wove a deeper story than his pictures could tell. The chipped fingernail polish is the image that is worth a thousand words…

Testaverde, thanks for your thoughtful (and thought-provoking words).
Not to get all deep or whatever, but I really liked doing the words + images collaboration because I think it underscored how art has the power to expose our “selves.” My words would have been flat without his images. And his images gained context with my words. I had a blast.
