Tonight’s date canceled on me. Via email. Yeah, I feel sad, hurt, confused, yada, yada, yada. But I’m not going to dwell on that here because: (1) you can read the details in my Nerve blog column and (2) baby’s too excited about going to SXSW tomorrow morning!!! Woot! Woot!! From their website:

Indie film. Kickass music. Booze. Parties. Flirting. Oops!!! Did I type that out loud???? Anyway, tomorrow, I’m presenting a little session called “Adult Conversations: Sex, Intimacy & Online Relationships.” On Monday, I’m going to the Bloggie Awards ceremonies at 1 p.m., and Studio SX is interviewing me at 3 p.m. (Zoe Margolis and I are going to talk about … well, you know. Sex.) I have a million things to do between now and my 5:00am flight tomorrow morning. Lenny the Laptop is tagging along with me, so expect updates, audio, video, photos and whatever in the coming days.

Congrats on getting a presentation in SXSW! I remember when you were putting up the proposal, and I was wondering if you got the nod. That’s great! This is a big forum and is certainly going to get you a wider audience! Don’t forget us little people when you’re a megastar!

Seems like your cold-footed date is one of those “over-involved” guys. You know… the ones who envision and rationalize every single possible way that you can and cannot work out, and all before the second date.
Maybe he just read your previous posting and it weeded him out for you. But hey, better he come to this grand realization after the first date rather than the first anniversary. =)

@ WYWITB aka “Paul”: I kinda got that impression when he used the word “promising” to describe our date. It felt as if he’d already worked out an end goal and our first date, my test, was “promising.” But, who knows? I certainly don’t have this stuff figured out anymore than anyone else does. And, yes, I’m with you 100%. I **TOTALLY** think the guy found (and read) my blog and got uncomfortable with it. Better to know that now than later, I guess … By the way, THANKS for indulging me and using the name “Paul.” ;)
