Who’s Your Celebrity Crush?
“OMFG!!” I gasp a quick breath of air. “It’s him. It’s hiiiiiim!” Children squeal when they’re overexcited. I squeal when I see Paul Walker — or, as I like to call him — my Paulie. I skipped Manly Monday yesterday because I wanted to share the story about Mr. Charming. So, it’s time for a Testicle Tuesday. A lovely reader that I’ll call Christina — because that’s her name — shares my appreciation of the man. (Check out her blog and tell her funky brown chick sent you her way!) A while back, Christina commented, “How about another PW post, this one is from 2006 after all.” Ah, yes. Paul Walker’s mysterious disappearance from my blog.
If you’ve recently started reading my site, you might not know this but … about a year or two ago, my blog *almost* morphed into a public shrine to Paulie. I made him my official “Boy” when I ran for president, wrote an ode to him, talked about him on one of my fake albums, sang a song called Twelve Dudes of Christmas about him, crushed on him even when he was a blonde, and received 87 blog comments when I asked my readers whether or not he was droolworthy. To the latter point, I almost shut the blog post down when it became clear that people actually thought I was Paul Walker. “I love you!” cried Daniela. “You look just like the boy my heart thinks about all the time and that guy is YOU!!!!” Some guy who goes by name Joe Jones said, “thanks paul am a big fan off your stufff.” Kaycee Blackwell? Well, she was almost rendered speechless, “hi, my name is Kaycee and I cant even think of anything to say But you are so cute Ive seen you in every and i think that your not only very cute but you are a great actor also i didnt want to say that i was your biggest fan or anything But I would like to say that your really alsome!!! and i would love to meet you one day!!!!!!” Here’s the point where you stop and ask, “Why, pray tell, would anyone think peach-skinned, blue-eyed, California surfer dude Paul Walker was the mastermind behind a New York-based website called FUNKY BROWN CHICK?” I don’t know. I really don’t know. Anyway.
Pleeeasssee stop writing about Paul Walker, many of you begged me. You spoke. I heard. I love my readers. So, if you’d had enough of Paulie, I was willing to keep my crushing private. For nearly a year. But, then, a couple of weeks ago, I saw my Paulie on the cover of the April 2008 edition of Outside magazine. How the hell can I NOT blog about him now? :) I’ll try to keep it under control this time. I promise. Now, quick, hurry up and go check out Xtina’s blog and thank her for breaking the case of the missing Paulie. :) Ooooh, a Testicle Tuesday AND reader appreciation rolled into one? It happens! My regular is Gerard Butler (as I’ve mentioned before). But lately, (because we just got the series “Chuck” here in the UK) it’s Adam Baldwin. There’s a lot of testerone in that tasty package.

The last time I said my crush was John Cusack you were shocked, but I stand by that: he’s the only celeb I’d get bother to stalk and get arrested for. Oh and Slash of Velvet Revolver (formerly of Guns n Roses). Ooh and Boris Kodjoe. *drool* I think that’s it for now.

Oh God! I had a girlfriend many years ago that was absolutely obsessed with him. When that whole “Fast and the Furious” movie came out and he was rockin’ the blond she actually broke up with me for a guy that had blond hair, but otherwise looked more or less the same as I did! Can you believe that crap?!
Yes, this was in the high school days.

I fell for Paul when I saw him in Pleasantville. Varsity Blues is was in football gear which made him more hot. But Fast and the Furious sealed it for me – Hot Boy in fast car? I had no chance. Vin’s coice still does it for me which I’m sure I’ve already mentioned somewhere on here. Even though that’s completly besides the point.
My celebrity crush? Well there are a lot of celebs I’d sleep with or drool over because they’re gorgeous. But real crushes are the ones you would bring home to Mom and marry if you could. I really do like Paul. But he’s yours and I don’t want to mooch. I’d have to say Keanu Reeves. My love for him knows no bounds. Good movies, bad accents and all. I’d do more then just make Blasians with him. (Does Keanu count as far as making Blasians goes?)

ACK!!! NOOOO!! Adam Baldwin is NOT and would never be one of those Baldwins. God…the horror….Google him when you get a chance. I’m not alone in my (sometimes erotic) admiration of this man. By the way, I, too, once thought Paul Walker was hot. That’s what drove me to see him in “Timeline” and that’s when the spotlight dimmed on him and was recasted brightly on Gerard Butler. He stole the movie from him.

@ lamesabassman: I saw Lucy Lu at the Tribeca Film Festival. I think it was last year or the year before. She’s REALLY pretty. And, extremely short. She had on this long, clingy white (silver?) dress and 4 inch stiletto heels. But, she was still several inches shorter than I am, and I’m not a tall woman.
@ Peggy b.: OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! :( I so didn’t know that Paulie was in Pleasantville. I checked IMDB, and you’re right!! Man, I so need to see that movie again. I watched in on TV one day while cleaning my apartment. I don’t remember seeing him. By the way, I soooo saw Timeline. Not one of my faves. If the movie dimmed your love for Paulie, rent 2 Fast 2 Furious to bring it back again! LOVE him in that movie. Ooh, ooh, ooh or rent Into the Blue. I don’t remember the plot line of that one, but I remember he was shirtless for a great deal of the movie. :)

@ Peggy b YES thank you! I know Paul when I see him. We was in Pleasantville. Not the star, but still VERY hot. You got it backwards – Reese as trying to hit it with Paul. Poor Paul was so adorable and naive about it. Pleasantville is a GREAT movie.
You know I think I’ll settle for Wes Ramsey as a Paul substitute.

FBC, Adam Baldwin is not “cute”. He’s too much man to ever be considered cute. :p But this makes me ask, what is it that makes you have a crush on a celebrity? Is it the looks only? Or is it a particular role they tend to play (that’s usually what does it for me…certain character personalities draw me in far faster than their looks). And have your taste in celebrity men changed over the years?
@Grace, yes, you’re right. In the beginning, she’s went after him and got him. He was naive at first and then his eyes were opened. But remember, after he got a taste of the her cookie, he was at her window throwing rocks trying to get her to come out so they could hit it again. But she was more interested in putting on her reading glasses and….reading.

My celebrity crushes are 100% about looks: Rob Lowe, Michael Ealy, Taye Diggs, Paul Walker, Johnny Depp, that sexy Latino guy from Cold Case, Benjamin Bratt, Gabriel Garcia Bernal, Daniel Henney, Pierce Brosnan (a la 007, not so much now), etc., etc. :) Actually, personality only factors in if the guy’s an ass. Take Alec Baldwin, for example. I thought that telephone message to his kid (you’re a worthless disgusting little pig) was pretty ugly. By default, it made me think he was kinda ugly, too. Your second question … Have my tastes changed over the years? Not so much. I’m still a fan of the “2 out of 3″ guys. Hair. Eyes. Skin. Two out of three should be dark. Of course, Mr. Paul Walker had three out of three light features when he was blonde. But, somehow, that REALLY worked for him. He wears recessive genes well.

There’s Keanu, PRINCE, Denzel*, Johnny D, Oliver Martinez, Colin Farrell, The gone too soon Heath Ledger, Morris Chestnut, Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese *gggrrooowwwlll*, Terrence Howard, Chiwetel Ejiofor(I LOVE HIM), The Backstreet Boys with and without Kevin Richardson, PRINCE, Christian Bale, and a few others
I put the asterisk by Denzel’s name because there are some guys who are good looking but have more charisma, and class and whatever else it is that makes you moist when you look at them. He’s a good looking dude, but it’s his voice that gets me all hot and bothereds.

JOHN CUSACK!!! Yes, what a beautiful, talented man. He’s wonderful and I love him. He’s got a movie coming out soon too! I try to see all of his films. I can’t believe I didn’t say Will Smith. I think he’s gorgeous with those handle bar ears! LOL I thought he was great in Six Degrees. He’s a phenomenal actor.
