The Art of Not Blending In

June 13th, 2008 Posted in Travel

Of course, big fat thank you to everyone who left supportive comments and/or emailed me privately on Wednesday and Thursday. I had a moment. It passed. I attacked a cup of French Vanilla from Tasty D and a Buttercup Bake Shop chocolate cupcake with pink frosting (much like the one pictured). Almost INSTANTLY, everything was right with the world and I was back to normal. I felt better.

“You ate cake and ice cream?” my friend Bro asked.

“Yeah. I kinda of needed it. I could have done without the calories, but whatever. It made me feel good. I really like the taste of cake and ice cream together.”

“What the fuck? You are not two years old!!!”

“Sooooo?”

“So, the only people who eat cake and ice cream are 2-year-old kids at birthday parties. Stop it.”

Ah, screw it. Cake and ice cream. Threesomes. I eat what I want. ;) Besides, it’s boring to blend in with the rest of the crowd. Have a good weekend everyone!!! Heads up; I’ve got a couple of guest posts / guest authors lined up for you while I’m away on Saturday and Sunday. So, as a departure from the usual order of things, there will be weekend posts on the FBC. And, of course, if you want to-the-minute updates about the Hamptons trip, follow my Twitter.

First thing I ask about any birthday party is if there will be cake and ice cream.

  2. Amber Says:

First of all, I’m pretty sure 2-year-olds are too LITTLE to eat cake and ice cream. Or if not, they’re just barely old enough.

Secondly, what the fuck ever! Cake and ice cream are awesome. My grandmother will be turning 83 in August, and she’s had cake and icecream on every one of her birthdays. I plan to follow her lead!

ahhh…. you left out the Belgium chocolates….. and the whipped cream….

    lamesabassman…… a threesome sundae…… hellacool

    P.S. Happy B-day, Starchild…… the very best to you….

  4. Wholesome Midwestern Guy Says:

Like to eat ice cream and cake too :0~

  5. rfl Says:

Hey, all two-year-old kids come here and let’s have a virtual birthday party at Funky Brown Chick’s!

Does anyone celebrate his/her birthday today so that we could have an excuse for bringing our cakes with ice cream next to keyboards? :)

  6. Baba Doodlius Says:

I’m sorry to have to point this out, but this “Bro” person is clearly an anti-American communist satanist terrorist space alien.

Just about everybody I know will eat cake and ice cream any time, birthday or no birthday, for no particular reason. Nothin’ better than a big ol’ slice of chocolate cake with a humongous scoop of vanilla ice cream!

OK, I’m hungry now. Gotta go.

I reward myself with ice cream and/or cake all of the time. Part of being an adult is being able to eat your ice cream and cake when you want it, however you want it!

…and that also qualifies for other activities too. :)

Hey FBC, I should tell you about my first 3some experience. Happened during the Oscars this year with my bf and one of my good gfs….it was ah, interesting and there are quite a few friends of mine whom I wouldn’t feel comfortable telling as well sadly.

I’ve come to this a bit late but some of your readers have let you down by judging you at all, let alone harshly.
You were brave I thought telling of your threesome but that is part of what brings any reader back here. That and your sense of humor, your curiosity, and your intelligence.
I’m a bit old for these conversations but I am shocked at the judgmental nature of people here.
Enjoy the cake and ice cream. Keep at it..

  10. Roddykat Says:

Now I remember what I was going to say on the last post, and it still applies: Maybe some new friends are in order. Keep Rachel, Amber, and Desiree(I’m sure I’m forgetting someone), though. They’re cool from what i’ve read of them. :)

Thanks for subscribing to the notion that you CAN have your cake (and ice cream) and eat it too. It’s what grown folks do.

    Relax, Relate, Release. Peace.

  11. Chica Dificil Says:

We don’t have anything like Tasty D or Buttercup Bake Shop in LA. So please eat up on behalf of Chica Dificil.

    Peace!!!

About a year ago we were at a BBQ and a friend of mine had friend chicken and cake on his plate. Their is nothing wrong with having friend chicken and cake on the same plate. However, it was kinda weird cause he was taking bites of chicken and then bites of cake and then back to the chicken…hmmmmmmm. I wonder what his eating habits symbolizes in the sexual world.

  13. Fat Lady Says:

Being old and married with two kids, you know all I can do is fantasize about this – but right now, I’d love to get together with two friends and eat ice cream and cake off their bare bodies.

Have your fun! Eat what you want, do what (and who) you want! You may not always have that freedom – so enjoy it while you can!

  14. funkybrownchick Says:

    @ Dragonslayer: You’re a smart man!

@ Amber: That’s TOO CUTE that your grandmother is turning 83!!

@ lamesabassman: Not my birthday; just eating cake and icecream.

@ Wholesome Midwestern Guy: YAY!! Welcome to the Cake & Ice cream club! We should start a Facebook group. ;)

@ rfl: Next birthday? Life streaming ice cream & cake party!

@ Baba Doodlius: Have you met Bro??? She *IS* an anti-American communist satanist terrorist space alien. Your uncanny description of her is spot on!

@ maryann: You said, “Part of being an adult is being able to eat your ice cream and cake when you want it, however you want it!” I love that! :)

@ kaytey: I know, isn’t it sad to feel like you can’t express yourself without being judged? :(

@ don: My sense of humor, curiosity, and intelligence? Flattery will get you everywhere, my boy! :)

@ Roddykat: DEFINITELY read their blogs!! They’re great women, aren’t they?!! Wait, here’s a little link love: Amber Rhea (www.beingamberrhea.com), Rachel (www.lustylady.blogspot.com) and Desiree (www.baserinstincts.com).

@ Chica Dificil: You don’t have Tasty D or Buttercup Bake Shop in LA? Fret not. We don’t have In N Out or Tommy’s. So, trust me, the calorie coveting is mutual. New York might have better sweets, but LA has better greasy food. Chicago? Best fucking pizza in the world!!

@ Caleb: He mixed bites of chicken with bites of cake? Hmmmm …. Never tried that one.

@ Fat Lady: You bring up a good point with the “you may not always have that freedom” stuff. Sometimes I forget that!
