Interview with Nora Young on CBC Radio One

October 28th, 2008 Posted in Uncategorized

Hey guys. Just a quick message to let you know host Nora Young interviewed me for Spark on CBC Radio One. The show airs tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. (12:00 NT). If it helps with the American time conversion, when it’s noon in the Northwest Territories, I think it’s 10:00 a.m. in New York City, 9:00 a.m. in Chicago and 7:00 a.m. in Los Angeles. If you don’t already listen to CBC Spark, you should. It’s an awesome “blog, radio show, podcast and an ongoing conversation” about tech & culture. They explore the digital divide, voting via the internet, the history of digital communities and tons of other thought-provoking topics. They’re great. Plus, because they’re public radio, a bunch of their interviews and other stuff is 100% freely available online. You can listen to the podcast of my interview here:

Enjoyed the brief but tightly packed interview on Spark. It’s led me here, so there’s a result. Will spend some time after work checking this take on the sexy.

Discovered you via the Saturday afternoon spark rebroadcast.

I noticed within 1.5 and 2nd generation Muslim in North America, this group dating phenomena, of self-organizing girl groups then meeting up with self-organizing boy groups at numerous larger Islamic Conventions as early as 2001.

It was a way for the young’uns to find a way to ‘date’ without compromising their religious worldview nor feeling uncomfortable when reporting back to their parents about how they ‘met’ this great ‘muslim brother’ or sister they just met.

As Jeff Goldblum in the Jurassic Park movie said, “Life finds a way…”

HiMY SYeD: THANKS for commenting and sharing your thoughts. Yeah, I can totally see a *bunch* of benefits of group dating for all cultures. :)

    @ lamesabassman: Hey, that’s a Beatles lyric. :)
