@ lamesabassman: :)

@ toobee: Will keep that in mind for next time.

@ Brenz: It's a beautiful area. And, I have to admit, it was nice to get out of New York for a little bit.

But I still love it there.

We were also in CT over the weekend to visit my in-laws. In CT liquor stores are called package stores; they don't even want to see the word liquor on a store sign.

In the 19th century when MA's Harvard turned Unitarian CT's Yale became a center for trinitarian orthodoxy. It would not surprise me if that bit of New England's theological history has something to do with CT's anachronistic liquor laws.

WOW don't they know besides the weekend is when everyone drinks. Our ABC stores was open until 4 that day.. I think that is why I keep a supply of spirits at home. You just never know.. I am glad you had a nice Holiday.

I don't know why people in power think that they can controll what people do with their bodies, it never works. Either disaster or crime results. Anyway, continued adventures for the holidays-more to write about! Like the allergic reaction I had to something I ate (never had that happen before) that gave me horrendously swollen lips by Friday.

@ mrsbigg: I know!! I had to deal with the liquor laws when I lived down south during grad school. I sooo didn't expect to bump into them up north. Seriously, I kept saying: "Are you kidding me? Really? Is this for real???"

@ lamesabassman: Wow, even in NY you couldn't buy booze on Sunday once upon a time? Chicago certainly has it's crazy history with booze and bootlegging. But, I guess I though NY would be different.

@ dkzone: I soooo didn't know that about Jersey!! I'm sure someone has done a list of all the stupid laws. In North Florida, they once banned topless dancing. So, one of the old clubs introduced bottomless dancers. It was kinda a huge "fuck you" to the nonsensical rules. :)

@ Miko: THANKS!!! :) Glad I could bring the cheer.

@ zuelapooh: I know!!! It's kind of like the places that close early during the weekends. In England, the bars close much earlier than they do here. So, they like POUND beers really fast and get really really drunk. Same with the no Under 21 stuff here; people just binge when they get to college and/or get a fake id.

Where in Connecticut? My family is from Guilford on the coast. I remember "package stores", but you're right... it's different. I should fly back. Maybe Christmas. Anyway... great post.
