5 Things I’ve Learned About My Readers
I fly to the land of subzero temperatures today. I’m excited to see my family in Chicago, but I’m honestly kind of afraid of freezing to death. New York City is cold, but it’s soooo not as cold as Chicago. Sigh. I’ve still gotta pack. I always wait ’till the last minute to do that stuff, heaping piles of unfolded clothes in a piece of wheeled black luggage then running out of the house like a crazed madwoman — forgetting at least 20% of the stuff I wanted to bring with me. I don’t stress about that stuff. I’ll be okay as long as I’ve got my ID, my flight details, access to cash and something to read of the plane (this trip, it’s Tobias Wolff’s memoir This Boy’s Life). I’ll update my blog again tomorrow after I’ve finished traveling. In the meantime, feel free to get down with the Funky Brown by reading a couple “Reader Favorite” posts and comments from my archives. 2. Did you know I file all Funky Brown Chick posts under subcategories like Dating and Mating, Culture (Pop & Otherwise), Reader Appreciation Day, Sadness and Paul Walker? (Pssst, if you read my FAQ, you already know why Paulie gets his own category.) Interestingly, your favorite post in the BoyStories category is Le Matin après le Ménage à trois.

Just saw that they’re having 3+ hour delays in Chicago. As a seasoned travel veteran, all I can say is:

My first thought was to talk about that Badonkadonk, but I do realize how superficial that is – so I won’t talk about that…
In the end, I love your writing style. I went to college for journalism and it’s great to see a true writer flexing her muscle!

Well let’s see.
In general, I like reading about relationship topics or self betterment. Reading the BLOG is important as opposed to vids and pics (although, seeing who the writer is, is important in the beginning), and in your case, quite delightful :)
You also have a certain style of writing, a bit unique, that I like.

The thing that I like best is how you strive to keep a sense of decency and respect for all commenters whether you and/or others agree with them or not. Too often, the comment section is just the virtual world of a firing squad, where anyone is attacked if they differ from another’s opinions–never forcing people to be constructive and descriptive in their criticism.
As easily as some discussions can spiral down into misunderstandings, stereotypes deemed the singular rule, and full blown arguments, you, Ms. FBC continuously rise above it and refuse to let your site be a place of negativity.
