@ dkzone: Oh, my love, you have excellent taste! "Jack and Coke" is my standard drink.

@ Peggy b.: I WANT TO VISIT YOU IN SCOTLAND!!!!

@ dan-E: You know your scotch!! That's EXACTLY what Ricky told us to do. No ice. Few drops of water.

@ lamesabassman: :)

@ Pegs: No, I didn't know that. Small world!! And, yeah, I have no clue how much a glass of Scotch costs. The tasting was complimentary, and I've never ordered. So, seriously, lob that question at me and I turn into Rain Man [rocks back and forward] "How much does a car cost? About $100. Yeah. About $100."

@ Art J: It's a pity, but it's true: quality and cost are often correlated.

Scotch, now there's my drink. Always neat, always single malt, single cask. Always with a good cigar too.

I'll cut it myself if I want it cut so water on the side. not a fan of livet or Fiddich.

Did you know Glenlivet was my client for some years? I arranged a few tastings in my day. Thank goodness I never developed a taste for it myself. That stuff is pricey!

and this one malt you dont have with cupcakes..... yeah, am a Jack man.. but have been around the single malt for a long while.... and stay away from the blended
scotches .... if a single malt is 12.15,20 years old..... then it is so.... if you have a
blended scotch that is 12,15,20 years old ..... then it is a MIXTURE of varied scotches that with add up to 12,15 and 20 years old.... like, add a 5 year batch with a 2 year and a 4 year with a 9 year and that will add up to a blended 20 year
old bottle of scotch.... but that means that it's not a straight up 20 year like you get when you buy a bottle of 20 year old single malt....

lamesabassman...... and that's sippin' booze

oh my, this post touches me heart. i absolutely love a good whisk(e)y, be it scotch or good ol' american bourbon. the glenlivet 15-yearr french oak is excellent. if you're adventurous you should try the smokey islay scotches like say, lagavulin or bruichladdich which are my favorite types of scotch.

no matter which one you order, the best way is neat, with a glass of water. add a few drops of water to open it up, sip slowly, and you're in whisky heaven. don't even bother with ice.

And spelled "whisky" in Scotland but back to "whiskey" in Ireland. You know I married my personal whiskey connoisseur, while in his kilt! Let me know if you're wanting to try the peaty varieties. I'll steer you in the right direction.
