Dreaming of Summer & Skimpy Clothes

I haven’t shaved my legs in days and my bikini area is looking a little feral. I kind of go back and forward about how I feel about this. During the summer, I have a very strict policy of daily dressing as if I’m going on a date. Sundress. Heels. Perfectly groomed downstairs area. Smooth, bare legs. Matching bra and panty set. Makeup. Product. Perfume. The works. My thought process is: I don’t have to dress up for OTHERS, I can dress up for MYSELF. And, you know what? It’s a really good self esteem booster. When I’m decked out, I stand up straighter, and I think I project an attitude that says: “I am taking care of myself.”

That’s summer. During cold, grey and dressing winter days, I cover my body with lumpy clothing. I can’t be bothered to shave my legs on a regular basis because they’ll be covered with jeans or pants. I don’t wear makeup because, well, quite frankly, I don’t feel like it. And, I usually pack on 5 – 10 pounds due to excessive munching on mac & cheese, mashed pototoes and other comfort food. Right now, I feel a little sloppy, gross, unkempt and unpretty. I guess I don’t have anything else to say about that. Just feeling a bit “blah” today.

I wish it was summer.

Ah, summer! What a great time of year for us guys with eyeballs!

Just don't tell Mrs. Doodlius that I occasionally sneak a furtive glance or two at some scantily clad young ladies. (Actually, you don't have to tell her – she knows already. So long as I look but don't touch, she's ok with that.)

It is amazing how dressing up can perk you up. When I was a student and feeling blue, I'd sometimes dress up in a full-length gown and go to my classes. I got a lot of funny looks, but it made my day just different enough to be interesting.

As for winter, I agree. It makes me slothful too. Plus I've gotten completely bored with everything in my wardrobe (by August I'll be bored of all my summer clothing) so I just toss on the most comfortable things, which are generally old and ugly.

Oh no! Winter means sexy boots, fitted sweater dresses, and funky hats. I definately do not like winter so I have to come up with something to cope. If i let the clothes go too then I'd be completely lost!

I feel you. I tried to beautify myself a few nights ago, and I still look like crap. I think it's a combination of not jogging, drinking far too much coffee to combat being cold, and wearing bulky, spacious clothing that's a little too forgiving.

I need sunshine and warm weather to motivate me to be active and outdoorsy, otherwise I just grab some chips and salsa and call it a night.

I thought you dont' wear panties? I'm confused. Either way is okay – I love that you wear matching bras and panties, it sounds so old school, I guess because I don't know anyone else who does. And I'm with you on being sick of winter/cold/icky weather.

A few days ago I just Twittered about how I can't wait for the summer–is it just me or has this season of suck been extra long?

Street fairs, Prospect Park, Afro-Punk festival, Coney Island Mermaid Parade–summers in NYC are underrated.

Man, I actually can't wait until summer this year. I usually loathe summer(not a fan of sweat) but I think summer and I may get along this year…that is, until August. Summer becomes quite the asshole in August.

Just yesterday I tried to bribe me friend into us going to Miami….just 'cause. I also feel ya on the shaved legs…seems unnecessary right now.

ok. so I just got back from the Dominican republic and let me tell you……

My ass needs to get in the gym.

It's not until you put on the swim trunks do you realize how out of shape you really are.

The good news is, I didn't look bad. But I didn't feel like I looked my best. I start tonight. by hook or by crook i will hit the gym after my baby goes to bed. =)

Summer's lenses corrects the myopia of winter.
As the seasons change, so do we. Its only fair to do what needs to be done as the cycle of change takes place around us and within us. :)

I love the summertime because I can wear dresses and I love showing off my legs. I think its important for every woman to look good and feel sexy for herself and no one else. There is nothing wrong with getting dolled up for your man but just to pamper yourself and look good for you is fabulous

Does a woman shave for herself or for others? I, for one, would be happy to see a woman give it up. I realize that baby smooth is the current in vogue style. But all fashion runs in cycles. Unshaven and natural will be back. There is a certain earthiness in it. And, it is greener — less water, less energy.

You're probably right about the “unshaven and natural.” For men and women. :)

Though I think Jason [points below one comment] might be on to something about the cyclical nature of fashion I'm AAAAALLLLL about pampering this summer. :)
