Boston's my home for now, but I felt the same way when I was in LA this summer. I do get the itch to <em>live </em>outside of the U.S. every now and again. First it was Cuba. Then Ghana. France is next! I know exactly what you mean! Now, when people go on about what the greatest city in the world is, I just think the answer to that is "home"...wherever that may be.
