Manly Monday: Barack Obama, Nobel Laureate
Saturday, on Facebook I stumbled across the clip below and shared it on my Wall. If you watch Rachel Maddow, you’ve probably already seen this “That’s not the way the Nobel prize always works” video because it’s almost two weeks old. Of course I heard about Obama’s Nobel laureate status, but I hadn’t seen Maddow’s clip. Politics aside (i.e. whether or not you think Obama was a good pick), if you’re interested in learning more about the Nobel prizes and “Le marchand de la mort,” see Wikipedia, Biography, Time or pick up a paperback book on Alfred Nobel’s life. Interesting guy. I wrote about Nobel a couple years ago. Head’s up, the clip below is 11 minutes long, but it’s worth watching the whole thing.

No apologies necessary! You definitely deserve a break. We all do, and people should certainly understand that. Happy to hear that your break was a success and glad to see you back in action. That’s the important part: coming back from the break even stronger!

interesting post…though i wouldn’t have picked Obama (yet?) to receive the Nobel, i must say that the world is hopeful that he can undo the terrible damage that G.W.B has done…when Afghanistan is free from U.S interference, when Iraq can freely control its own destiny again…and when the School of the Americas is finally closed for good…then he will have truly helped make the world a better place. So far, the world is waiting for his claims and promises to become reality…let’s hope that our wait isn’t in vain…again. Everyone knows that politicians are good at promising the world…and delivering nothing but pain.
