Although I use condoms when I have sex, I’ve certainly gone riding without a saddle with longterm boyfriends but, luckily, I’ve never been pregnant, I’m not HIV+ and I’ve never had an STD / STI. When I think about it, it’s kind of creepy that a tiny little rubber keeps my health and childfree status safe. Have you ever wondered: “What if it breaks?” (I’ve had a few break in the past, but those are stories for a different blog post.) In any case, if you’ve ever wondered: “How do they test condoms to make sure it won’t break?”, here’s a video from Consumer Reports’ labs.
Source: It’s tough being perfect, but we found 7 condoms that are.

Whew!
Feeling much more confident about participating in the ‘horizontal mambo’ after seeing that.
Thanks!
That’s all well and good that the tests are rigorous, you also have to pay attention to how long they have been on the shelf of the retailer and if they were being stored in cool conditions.
Nice. What about the colored condoms? I have friends who had those break, especially the green and blue ones.
Pamela: The green ones aren’t ripe yet, I’d stay away from those.
Skye Blue: Weeeeell, don’t sleep TOO easy ;) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/china/6539761/Chinese-police-discover-fake-condoms-factory.html
AnthonyB: Yep. Lots of things to consider.
Pamela: Some condoms are “novelty” condoms and they’re not really meant for protection. For example, a bunch (but not) all colorful condoms and edible ones fall under the “novelty” category.
Baba Doodlius: Well said!! :) Wait till they’re yellow. THEN devour them!
oops……
lamesabassman….. shall we name them after the DNA tests, hmmmm…..
lamesabassman: :)
yeay, but don’t forget that hpv virus are transmitted even with condoms :/ i catched one (luckily not a cancerous one) and i didn’t even had that many partners :/
I know, right? :( Not sure about your side of the Atlantic Ocean, but HPV is in the news everywhere here.
