Manly Monday: Tiger Woods’ Hole In One (Or More)
Gaaaah! I’m tired of this story already. When I heard about Tiger Woods car crash, I tweeted about it because I thought the guy was dying. As the story unfolded, it was clear his life and limbs were not in jeopardy. His groin’s adventures became the “real” headline.
Several people recently asked, “You write about relationships. What do you think about Tiger Woods?” As I’ve said before, If PERSON A cheats on PERSON B with PERSON C, it’s really no one’s business except the parties involved. Tiger is neither my father, lover, husband nor an acquaintance. Right now, I wouldn’t necessarily want to be in Elin Nordegren’s shoes. That said, I’m uninterested in her & her husbands’ personal affairs. In fact, I think the fascination with love lives of the rich & famous says more about our country’s penchant for gawking than it does about our spry young Tiger’s alleged ability to wear women out. Pssst! If you’re interested in theories about Americans’ general views on cheating, I’ve previously written about the topic over at Huffington Post. (Link: Political Sex Scandals: Obama, McCain & Palin.) I also recommend Google Searches for Information about Tiger Woods vs. Afghanistan.
Ah, each day has its many complications, joys, thrills, disappointments, challenges and surprises, no? Many ideas enter my thoughts, but Tiger Woods’ personal life isn’t typically one of them. I pray about my family. I get excited that I’m almost finished with my book. I question how long I’ll remain in New York. I think about my future plans. I hang out and have great times with good friends. I improve my personal finances. Tiger Woods? As long as the man isn’t breaking the law or committing any crimes, I think he deserves his privacy. I’m glad he’s safe. I wish him the best at golf, and I hope he has (or finds) peace in his home life.

I’m with you Twanna…
This man’s sexual exploits is none of our business, but because he’s in the public spotlight, his life will be dissected under a microscope.
Great post

This story has all the elements of a drama script.
An extra-marital affair, female on male domestic violence, celebrity gossip.
The boy’s going to go on Oprah, cry his ass off, say how sorry he was and go back winning tournaments and everyone will forget about it cause sooner rather than latter, some other celebrity, politician will be f@cking around on their spouse.

Not like he is the first, and I doubt he will be last. And so long as he is not in relation to me…what really do I care?!
December 7th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
I’m bored with it….except for that fact that he’s being villafied to this level. Like right now. people are looking at him as being soooo low….But how are the same people viewing Roman Polanski?
December 7th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
also….as a sidenote. I don’t think his endorsements are going to suffer…..
His target core market is “guys”
Would “guys” be more inclined or less inclined to buy products associated with a guy who had alot of sex with different women?……
Think about it.
You’re aguy standing there looking at shavers. Do you choose the shaver with the ads that show male models, most of which look gay btw?….or do you choose the shaver of the guy With the hot swedish/norwegian wife, whose banging chicks from coast to coast?
“Guys” are secretly giving Tiger the nod, and laughing that he got caught.

I guess because Tiger has Been “Mr. Perfect” for so long–or at least that is the image his “people have been trying so hard to put out there, these stories are getting so much attention. It only proves that he is just as flawed as the rest of us. I agree with Dkzone, his fans don’t care about his mistresses. Media needs to move on– it’s beyond old news…

Actually the ” mr perfect ” thing is something that people placed ontop of him. His ability to hit a golfball has people thinking he’s trancended being a human being.
I look at him as a hypercompetetive guy…..I mean c’mon…you play a sport outside and you can’t handle hearing a camera go off during your backswing? I’d hate to see what happens when a bird chirps doring a non-designated wildlife TO

The only thing I find remotely interesting about this story is that he plays *golf* for a living. Golf? I’ve come to expect it from basketball players and football players, and soccer players, and pretty much every other professional kids-game players, but golf? Does anybody else have a hard time imagining Arnold Palmer or Tom Watson doing the nasty with a cocktail waitress or an exotic dancer?

I am also quite sick of hearing about this, just as much as I was about the Rihanna/Chris Brown situation. I think we forget too often that celebrities are human and have the same problems everyone else has. The only difference is they have to live their lives in the public eye so when they suffer it’s treated like more entertainment. I never read tabloids or really much of anything about the lives of famous people; it’s none of my business and I don’t want to be apart of something that I believe to be exploitation. If I were going through something like that I wouldn’t want anyone following me around asking me questions they have no right to ask. But I guess that’s the price of fame.

I don’t care about Tiger Woods and Tiger Woods doesn’t care about me.
Just being nosy, where are you moving if you choose to leave NYC? I’m (hopefully) headed to Portugal next year and then Houston/Dallas or DC after that. I think there should be a vote from FBC readers on where we think you should go next :)

The Hooker Chronicles: Thanks!
mrsbigg: Real Issues FTW!!
AnthonyB: Actually, I think it would make a good Lifetime Television movie: “The Tiger Woods’ Story.”
indigodiamond: Very good point: “Not like he is the first, and I doubt he will be last.”
dkzone: Tiger has consensual sex with an adult. Roman rapes a child. Tons of reasons why their stories are being portrayed differently in the news. Maybe puma is right? Is part of the discrepancy image? Tiger’s was that of a Squeaky-Clean, All-American Golfer. Roman’s image was crazy Jewish foreigner who makes demonic horror movies. Expectations were set accordingly. I’m not saying this is right, mind you. Just speculating. Plus, I’m also not saying that either of the two even WANTED the images that were thrown on them.
By the way, regarding sponsors, news outlets are reporting Gatorade dropped him: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/golf/tigerwoods/6765283/Tiger-Woods-Gatorade-becomes-first-company-to-drop-golfer.html
puma3: Yep, I’ve wondered this too! :)
Baba Doodlius: You’re hilarious! :)
Amina: Perfectly stated: “I think we forget too often that celebrities are human and have the same problems everyone else has. The only difference is they have to live their lives in the public eye so when they suffer it’s treated like more entertainment.”
DivaDivine: Not sure where I’d live if I ever left New York. Could be as simple as moving out of Manhattan to a more affordable area of the city. Who knows. I’d probably want to be somewhere on the coast (East or West, doesn’t matter). And, YES, I would sooooo solicit feedback from FBC readers. I’ve been thinking a lot of different stuff about New York & life lately. Long story. I might write a post on the topic soon.

The endorsements will start returning about 2 weeks after he wins his first tournament….when he comes back.
