How To Pick Up Women

If you could see my calendar, you’d know why I didn’t get around to updating Funky Brown Chick yesterday. (Actually, in case you’re interested, here’s a screenshot.) There’s something on every evening. And, some nights, like tonight, there are several events at the same time. Things are a bit crazier than usual because it’s the holiday season + end of the year when everything gets crammed in before we all kiss 2009 goodbye. Speaking of “kissing” (and events), I had a great time at Abiola’s Kiss and Tell Live. It’s a monthly erotic reading series. If you missed it last night, come in February for The Valentine’s Day Hangover. I’ll be performing. Haven’t decided what yet, but I’ll probably put it to a vote later and let Funky Brown Chick readers decide.

At last night’s Kiss and Tell, I’d already met everyone except the duo named Dave and Ethan. I checked out their website. They’ve got quite a few fun videos, so I thought I’d share one with you today.

Oooh, ooh, ooh, this gives me an idea!!! For the February performance, I might share the sexy story about how one of my exes picked me up. Hmmm … Gotta think about whether or not I want to talk about that one. Anyway. Guys, if you’ve got a fun story about picking up a woman you adored, feel free to share it in the comments section below. Ditto for the women; If someone wooed you particularly well, tell us how they did it.

ok…So me and my roomate Barry are sitting in “Charlie Browns” lamenting how  pathetic our lives are at age 24. We’re sitting at the bar contemplating stealing another set of Sam Adams mugs for our collection, when I look up into the mirror behind the bar and see this really cute chick walk in and sit down at a table. I think to myself…” Wow she looks really nice…..but she’d never go out with a guy like me….=(….”

Then as we get up to go back to our lair, to catch sportscenter, her friend walks in…… =O…..OMG!! Caramel skinned, long jet black hair. She reminds me of Zoe Saldana, except with a body and curves.

Barry and I make it out into the parkinglot, and I stop.

” Dude,  we’re going out like punks!! We’re better than this!! Follow my lead.” we carefully place our stolen mugs in the trunk of Barry’s car, and then we turn. Me and my trusty wingman, buoyed by my desire to avoid punkdom, we start on the road to REDEMPTION!
The ladies are sitting at their table, sipping on what can only be margaritas….no salt.

” Excuse me. My friend and I saw you two sitting here and we were about to go to the movies and were hoping you’d like to come.” I flash my best smile….Barry does what wingmen do….he follows my lead. The girls look at each other and the super hot one says….Ok.

I end up making out in the movies with Rachel. I still to this day don’t rememeber the movie at all.  We exchanged ph#’s after the movie and i hooked up with her again before she went back to south jersey and college.

What I loved about that video is that it says alot about the dating world.I bet most of those women were single  (and searching)but if a Guy just does something as simple as talk to you and ask them out on a date the default answer is ‘NO!’.No matter how sweet, funny, charming or witty the guy is.It’s interesting, maybe just maybe it’s to do with environment and atmosphere…I don’t know anybody who met their partner on the tube-especially London, where nobody looks at /talks to each other.

Can’t say I have any great pick up stories, but I loved the video.  It would be nice if guys in Toronto would approach women that they were interested in so directly, but it rarely happens.

sigh.

dkzone:  Cute story. And, yes, Zoe Saldana is VERY pretty! :)

Syrita: Right? They both seem like nice guys, and women were probably only put off by the extreme directness … and, in some cases, the funny questions like “can I finish your ice” (to the woman who slurpped the last bit of coffee from her cup.)

Baba Doodlius
: Right, that’s a great story!

Skye Blue: Toronto is a beautiful city; I love that place :)

@ Skye Blue

Men in Toronto would approach women like that more often, if the women in Toronto weren’t so quick to shut down men in the most unkind ways imaginable. So it rarely happens.

sigh.

LMAO! Any guy who bust out a Lady Gaga medley while on the subway is all right in my book.

Yeah, Toronto is nice – in the summer.  I spent a week in Toronto once – in the middle of January.  I saw nothing of the city because it was snowing every day, and it was so cold that nobody went outside, they traversed the city underground (which was a nice feature, I must admit).  The high temperature for the week was 9 F.  I can’t believe humans live in that climate, it’s brutal.

I usually don’t get lucky, so on the rare occasion I do, you best believe I take note. I actually met a New York 9 at a hot dog stand about three years ago. The vendor was having a problem with the hot dog buns, so we were just standing around waiting – making small talk. I made some really ridiculous joke about settling for “her buns” if this guy can’t get it together. I never say stuff like that – totally out of character. Anyway, I said it, and she gave me a weird crooked smile, and asked my name. Long story short, we exchanged info, and went out a few times. It was a great learning experience for me to not be afraid, and to just be myself. I’ve come to understand that “not caring” is half the battle when chatting-up a woman. My batting average still isn’t all that great, but now I’m less afraid to swing at the plate. You never know!

Pink_Thursday: Ditto! :) My my my my my my my poker face!

Baba Doodlius: Toronto’s winters sound like Chicago’s winters :) I’ve only ever been in Toronto during the summer. Loved it! Not sure I’d travel there during the winter.

click clack: You said “not caring is half the battle when chatting-up a woman.” I’d say ditto for men … and much else in life. The more you CLING to things, the faster they escape you.
