Free Giveaway: Valentine’s Day Love Kit (Deadline: 2/10)
Who doesn’t love free stuff? Thanks to Match.com, I’m able to hook up a Funky Brown Chick reader with “The Love Kit.” The package will likely include lip balm to make your mouth even more kissable, a copy of Whitney Casey’s 256-page guide The Man Plan, yummy dark chocolates, a Match.com membership discount coupon, a free 1-month online movie rental subscription and other undisclosed goodies. Also, if the reader is female, you’ll get a manicure set. If the winner is a guy, you’ll receive a shaving kit — but only if you promise you won’t use the razor to remove chest hair. Keep that part hairy. We like it.
How do you enter to win? It’s easy. Whether or you’re married, single or other, I want to know what you’re doing for Valentine’s Day. So, tell me! There are three ways to let me know (and, thereby enter to win the free Match.com goody bag). Here’s how: (1) Leave a comment on www.funkybrownchick.com; (2) tell me on Facebook; or (3) reply on Twitter – @funkybrownchick – with the hashtag #MatchKit. No need to do all three — e.g. don’t respond on the FBC and Facebook and Twitter. Pick one method, whichever method is easiest for you. Deadline is midnight (New York time) on Wednesday, 2/10.
Since I’m asking about your plans, it only seems fair to tell you about mine. For Valentine’s Day 2010, I’ll spend the afternoon making long distance telephone calls to my family back in Illinois. During the evening, I’ll be at The Grown and Sexy Valentine Party, a private gathering of friends and lovers with champagne, cupcakes and chocolate served. In other words, this year, I’m taking timing out to appreciate the love I have in life (friends & family) instead of focusing on what I don’t have at the moment (a boyfriend). Yep. That’s the plan. Now, let me what you’re doing.
———-
Full Disclosure: I don’t receive compensation or kickbacks from Match.com. I’m not promoting this giveaway because I’m on anyone’s payroll; I’m promoting it because I was approached, and I thought the opportunity to give Funky Brown Chick readers free stuff sounded delightful.

My guy and I will be spending the actual day of valentines day in our traditional activities – making pesto fettuccine from scratch on a hand-crank machine, preceded by a hot and heavy match of skeeball on the boardwalk.
The day after, he’ll go and get me all the roses that didn’t sell for millions of dollars in inflated V-day prices 24 hours prior, and we’ll fill the house with flowers, sit on the couch and eat chocolates we would have shelled out twice as much for if we had affixed the holy-of-holies idealism that always seems to surround just the 14th.
Love is an everyday thing – there’s nothing wrong with a little celebration, but especially in this economy, paying twice (or more!) as much for something just because it falls on a certain date isn’t worth it for us.

I live with someone and I don’t celebrate valentine’s day, but I imagine he’d like the chocolates…

I haven’t made plans yet. It will either be dinner with friends or solo time with some wine, salmon, and a long Lush bath. http://www.lushusa.com/shop

I actually have a date! *gasp!* We were supposed to go see a movie on Saturday, but as I’m getting over a nasty cold, decided that V-day would work – and then we both remembered it’s V-day, and agreed it was kinda akward, but decided to see the movie (Avatar), and then have dinner in some down-low Thai or Chinese place and avoid all the hype, and just enjoy noodles – wish me luck! ;-)

We’ll be low key We went all out for our 10 year anniversary in November. Valentine’s day has never been a real big deal to us. Valentines is such a manufactured, “Hallmark Holiday”…. We’ll probably just stay home, do something fun with the kids….all get in the kitchen and get down and dirty and make a good meal and dessert. Then after the kids are in bed, open a bottle of wine, head to the bedroom early, draw a warm bath for two and spend some time alone.
I love my wife to death. I really do and I *try* to rememebr to remind her and show her how much I love her throughout the year. I know that sounds sappy, but it’s true.
On another note, she did tell me that she ordered something on-line for me, so if any packages come, not to open them. My guess is this is something for our “time alone” that night! ;)

Since I am Valentine’s-less, I haven’t really thought about it yet. My uncle and (baby) cousin will be home that weekend, so I’ll be “treated” to really bad Disney singalongs and the sound of constant running up and down three flights of stairs… :(

Let’s see, the ol’ VD is next Sunday, so I’ll be on an airplane. Mrs. Doodlius will NOT be on said airplane, she’ll be at home. Bleh. Oh well. Sometimes we have to do whatever will buy the bird food.

I recently got out of a fairly long relationship. I felt completely void of any feeling because every ounce of my being was poured into that man (unfortunately he either seemed to not notice or just not care). So this valentines day will be spent with my family (siblings and parents) who were there to put me back together so to speak. I have no idea where I would be without them. We will be going out to dinner and exchanging cards and candy. I guess you can say they are my valentine this year.

This V day is very important for me and my man. It is our last Valentine’s day together. We love each other more than three years ago when we first kissed, but life has its own plans for us and I have to move 7000 miles away from him forever. So I want it to be very special. First, I will make him breakfast with mimosas, then spend the rest of the morning in the nearby park and have a light picnic there. He plans to cook for me from scratch and I am very excited to eat his food, because he is an excellent cook (better than me unfortunately). After desert, I ll put on my sexy lingerie and we will enjoy night of passion. But the best part of this day is that I will be able to feel his smell, see his smile and kiss his lips one more time before I leave.

No firm plans as of yet, but hope to spend some time with the guy I’ve been dating. He’s been backpacking in South America for the past two weeks and is returning this week (hope the snow doesn’t interfere). We have tentative plans for this weekend, and I’m more interested in seeing him and catching up and hearing about his travels that all the possible awkwardness of V-day!
