What’s Your Opinion about Bitches?

Okay, so, I know two things: (1) I want folks who want Dating Roadkill updates to have an opportunity to receive them, and (2) I don’t want FUNKYBROWNCHICK.com to become *completely* eclipsed by Dating Roadkill. My heart has much love for both of my babies — my blog and my radio show. So, I’ve come up with a plan. For the run of the show’s series, Fridays at the FBC are reserved for Dating Roadkill posts. If you crave more juicy details about the show, you can always subscribe to Dating Roadkill’s feed and/or befriend the show on MySpace. And, now, because it’s Friday, here’s your lovely Dating Roadkill post …

Guess what? Drum roll, please . . . [insert repeated "buh-rum-rum" sound] . . . The woman who wrote the book “Why Men Marry Bitches”, Sherry Argov, will be the featured guest for the next Dating Roadkill. Woot! Woot! (Some of you already knew this from a comment left on my other post.) The segment “Bitches. Men Love Them” airs Monday at 10:00PM EST. But, ooh ooh ooh, guest what else? :) BlogTalkRadio just listed it as a “featured show” on their home page. YAY!!

So, remember when I asked you guys if you thought that men think bitches are sexy? Weeeelll, this is your chance to have your thoughts heard. Speak up. Call in & join the conversation. Really. Don’t miss out this one. If you can’t listen live, be sure to download the podcast and/or listen later online whenever you’d like. Click here to find out how to listen. Now, since we’re on the subject, for those of you who can’t call in (and for anyone else who would like to do so), share your thoughts here! Leave your comments, questions, or stories about this topic in the comment section. I’ll try to read a few of them on air. You don’t have to be witty, fabulous or a dating genius. You just have to be honest. So, come on, fess up … what’s *your* opinion about bitches?

Guess What I Did On New Year’s Day?

Yesterday. New Year’s Day. Can you believe it? It’s 2007 already. Where did last year go? I’m still working on my list of goals and resolutions for the new year; as soon as I get that finished, I’ll probably post them here for you guys. By the way, speaking of yesterday, I just want to be sure to give a lovely shout out to everyone who participated in the series premiere of Dating Roadkill! To each of the guests — Alison, Maria, Matt and Joan — MUCHAS GRACIAS for participating!!! You were all very candid and honest; I appreciate your willingness to share your stories. Thank you, also, to the wonderful call-ins: MamaChristy & the guy in Washington with the boots. And, of course, big fat smooches to all of the folks over at BlogTalkRadio for making Dating Roadkill possible.

For those of you who missed the live show … fret not! Dating Roadkill is an internet radio show and podcast; you can choose to listen live or listen later. To listen now, simply click the image below and listen to “Worst Dating Stories Ever!!” (If you have any difficulties accessing the show, let me know.)

Next week’s show is “Bitches. Men Love Them.” If good guys finish last, good girls NEVER finish. So, if you’d like to be a Dating Roadkill guest for this segment, email me. I’m looking for nice girls, bitches, nice guys, guys who love bitches, etc. etc. You get the point. And, finally, of course, I’d love to get your feedback regarding last night’s show. So, if you listened to the live segment or the podcast, please use the comment section to share your impressions.

Dating Roadkill 101

December 20th, 2006 | 12 folks got down with the Funky Brown | Posted in Dating Roadkill

I can’t believe Dating Roadkill, my new internet radio show & podcast launches in less than two weeks!! (Read a description of the show here.) A few of you have emailed me to ask specific questions about the show. And, since several of the questions actually overlap each other, I thought I’d do a Dating Roadkill 101 post on my blog in case other people have similar questions.

The most common question is: “What is internet radio and how do I listen to your show?” Basically, internet radio is just like regular radio. Difference #1. You listen to it directly on your computer instead of on the radio. So, instead of call letters like “WGCI” or “WBUR” or “KFNX” or “PRI”, internet radio stations have web addresses. Dating Roadkill is on BlogTalkRadio. Difference #2. You can listen to internet radio whenever you want to. If you’re not near a computer at 10:00pm on Monday, January 1 when Dating Roadkill airs, you can listen to it whenever you’d like either directly online or simply send the show to your iPod. Visit BlogTalkRadio for instructions on how to do either. (Hint: to hear the really really rough test run, you just have to visit the site and click one of the three buttons: play, download, or podcast.)

Okay, so, the other question that some of you have asked is: “How can I be on the show?” Two ways: be a guest or be a caller. Guests are booked in advance & they’re already in the virtual studio when the show starts. For example, the January 1 segment topic is “Worst Dating Stories Ever.” One of my guests is a woman who had a guy dine & ditch. He sneaked out and secretly left her sitting at the table with a $300.00 bill. Another guest is a French/American guy who had a horrible first date with a woman who not only turned out to be very odd, she also hated French food. One of my other guests is a woman who … actually, you know what? … I’m not gonna tell you. You’ll have to tune in to hear her tell her story herself because it’s actually really good. So, yeah, those are guests. Callers, on the other hand, are people who listen to the live show and then call in to comment, ask a question, or share a related story of their own.

That’s Dating Roadkill. I just set up a MySpace page; to get the full program schedule as well as other stuff, add the show as one of your friends. Okay, so, I think that’s everything. But, of course, you can always shoot me an email if you have any other questions. Wish me luck!

I Have a Radio Show!

December 13th, 2006 | 14 folks got down with the Funky Brown | Posted in Dating Roadkill

One of the best things about the FUNKYBROWNCHICK.com is its readers. YOU. Yes, you. Sure, yeah, *I* blog the posts and design the pages. But, the real fun happens when we all interact via the comment section. So, I’m really excited that I’ve been given an opportunity to take that interaction a step further. Believe or not, I now have my own radio show!!! Yep, that’s right. The Funky Brown Chick is going live with a weekly internet radio show based on my blog.

It’s called Dating Roadkill and it airs Mondays at 10:00PM EST starting January 1. Basically, Dating Roadkill allows people to share stories about the dating world. Read about it here on my blog, or you can visit the show’s site over at BlogTalkRadio. (By the way, no worries; if you can’t catch it live on Monday nights, the next day you can listen to it on your iPod or listen online via streaming audio at work.)

I’m excited about it, and I really hope that you guys will take part! I need your help. When January 1 comes around, please take a listen to the show & give me feedback later. Also, if you do indeed listen to the show that day, I hope you’ll call in and participate. Like this blog, at least 1/2 of the fun is YOU. And, finally, if you’d like to be a guest on Dating Roadkill, let me know. The show’s first segment is Worst Dating Stories Ever. If you have a really really good “bad date” story or know someone who does, definitely shoot me an email.
