DC artists shine a light on maternal mortality and gender equality.
This summer, join us for a community celebration to share strategies, tips, and tactics for tapping into the arts to improve gender equality in the U.S. “The Power of the Arts to Create Social Change” takes place 6:30–8:30 PM ET on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Busboys and Poets Anacostia. The Anacostia branch of Busboys and Poets is located at 2004 Martin Luther King Jr, Ave. SE, in Washington, DC. Free and open to the public, a mix & mingle cash bar will be available. Doors open at 6:00 PM ET.
Organized by FUNKY BROWN CHICK in partnership with Women Deliver and Busboys and Poets, during the event, FUNKY BROWN CHICK CEO Twanna A. Hines will moderate the discussion with: Isra Chaker, Oxfam; Ingrid Zimmer, Inner City-Inner Child; Gabrielle Ewing, National Geographic; Briana Green, Mamatoto Village; and Therese Shechter, Trixie Films. Event attendees will enjoy screenings of relevant film clips and view relevant artwork.
